Came when Morton had a rush of blood to the bounce and whacked it out for a throw-in which led to the corner. Didn't pick him up. Lucky flick (from what I saw)
Furlong headed it right to the ground And it somehow bounced about 12foot off the ground into top corner Philo lost his man too easy though
I know how it came about, it was the finish I was wondering about, I thought it just looked like a flukey bounce.
If we didn't pass the ball out of play, defended better from the set piece, win the ball as it comes in, mark better etc then lucky or not...we don't concede. LR said himself after the game it's those moments we need to be better at not giving away soft goals.
I was referencing Morton's role. Not sure what he had in mind, but these things happen. Flukey is the word I'd use. I bet he didn't know a lot about it, but until I see it later I could be wrong. It might have been a piece of improvised skill.
We definitely made a mess of the play that led to the throw, I just wondered about the header itself, which still looks like a flukey one to me (though we don’t screw up the build up, they don’t get that chance, so it’s still disappointing).
All in all, the spoils shared, a fair result I thought against two good sides, WB a big side, physical, well organised & drilled. After a great goal by Fabio, frustrated to concede a soft goal, not covered ourselves in glory there. Intensity lacking a bit again at home, a more cautious, measured display. Omur was my pick of the bunch, energy, skilled. Allsop frustrated the hell out of me again, but fair play to him, a point saved with his reactionary save to their rebound off the post. Similarly, Philogene was frustrating, in past weeks he wanted to take every man on himself, but today seemed hesitant to get forward & take a man on. I feared the worst when Weimann came on, he usually scores against us, but good to see him fluffing his good opportunity near the end. I would be interested in hearing the reason for Ohio absence again, thought this game against a more physical side might suit him. Overall, a great position to be in after our last few games, it’s in our own hands, and a week to recover/ prepare for the next challenge. UTT, onwards & upwards. ⚽️ Not forgetting, a great reception to Mikka’s return.
I don’t think anyone else has mentioned this, a fantastic reception and he was clearly very moved by it, well done all.
Please please tell Allsopp Coyle Jobes and greaves to look up more Zaroury made 6 across the line runs hoping for a medium ball from the back and nobody saw him . Not only him , Omur did it and Fábio yet none of them got that pass . Second half Allsopp tried hen it was a very obvious one small player against a bigger back . LR NEEDS TO SORT THIS - now I’ve put it in caps he will come Tuesdays session at training .
A fair result in the end. could have won it, but equally could have lost it as they squandered 2 decent chances toward the end of the game. Who or where was our covering defender today? Particularly in the 1st half we seemed happy to leave Jones and Giles with a 2 v2 at the back.
I thought he missed some things which should have been in our favour, but I’m incredibly biased and could well be wrong!
