Mmmm back to the drawing board I’m afraid.. the spark we had a few games ago seems to have disappeared
Unfair to pick on those 3, they were all awful, Pring in the first half both goals came from his mistakes, he wasn’t fit. 2nd goal didn’t even attempt to block the cross and was ambling back. Recently we haven’t been putting a shift in like we used to. Our strength is our pressing, we just aren’t doing it, not good enough.
Fecking shambles. Vyner p!ss!ng around at the back again almost gifting them a third. Dickie wasting an attack by shooting from 30 yards out. I’ve never seen a CB score a 30 yard curler so is that Mannings supposed “style”? Taking 45 seconds to take a corner in the last minute of the game meaning the ref blows up before we can take the follow up corner. I’m sorry, I’m just not seeing it from LM. Looks out of his depth, looks out of ideas, no plan b. Wells is done. Doesn’t look hungry, never in the right place. Doesn’t seem to have any instinct or anticipation. Cornick for all of his lack of ability at least looked like he was trying. Vyner and Dickie at the back look dodgy and goal sieves. Max did ok.
Well 2nd and 3rd bottom beat us and throughly deserved it. Not sure what is happening in the corridors of Ashton Gate Stadium but the good vibes and the togetherness that were so prevalient under Nigel Pearson seem to be well and truly a distant memory. Nige was dismissed unexpectedly and a younger manager was appointed by the Landsdown family Supposedly bringing a fresh new approach.Well apart from the couple of cup games and the Southampton and Watford results it’s been a very erratic period under Liam Manning. For me he seems very naive and inexperienced at championship level.
LM has been calling for a week training on the grass. Well that wasn't evident at all. Hugely lacklustre and disappointing. Back to as far away as Christmas I'm afraid. Feel sorry for our fans wasting their time and money travelling all that way for a very poor performance.
After the sheer ecstasy of the games against Middlesbrough and Southampton, and the positivity they created, have been blown away by 2 lousy performances against teams that have struggled all season long. Regrettably the real Bristol City showed up again today and the leadership of Liam Manning has to be brought into the spotlight as it seems we have gone back in time to when things were really bad with no obvious answers to solve the problem. What we saw today and vs QPR has to bring up some serious questions in regard to whether Liam is the right person to take us forward and for me that is answered in the lightning speed by which he was hired. The cheap options are quicker to find than the right ones and I think this is another decision made by those at the top of the heap that has to bring their ability to run a football club at Championship level in to doubt. Year after year we hear the same rhetoric and always end up with wrong decisions being made at the wrong time to make any difference to our moving forward and upward. I can almost guarantee that the same questioning words will be available next season and the one after that as we just seem to be totally apathetic towards growth and/or sustainability. Why oh why do we have to put up with this nonsense when in reality we could be so much better with the right personnel in the right places all on the same page of the instruction manual. Is there an app for the handling of apathy?
Draw against Cardiff methinks. They aren’t crap enough for us to lose against them but they aren’t good enough for us to beat them.
Funny how we all see games differently. I thought overall Max, Vyner, Dickie and Knight did ok. The rest were shocking
Put to one side what happened before his appointment and just focus on performances since his appointment, and has Manning been a success?, I would argue not. It looked a couple of games ago that maybe he was starting to get things right eventually, but now he’s reverted back. This season seems like it’s going to Peter out, next worries me greatly. Zero points against QPR and Sheffield Weds isn’t good enough. The worrying thing is we got what we deserved in both games.
I thought Dickie and Vyner did OK but I thought Vyner could have been tighter for their first goal and him getting caught in a similar position a few weeks back and needing Max to bale him out. Overall the central 2 did well. One brilliant punch under pressure by Max and Knight........ I've rarely seen anyone ever run further or work harder....and what a goal. For me I think it's quality that we lack. We haven’t anyone who can beat his man and break the line. Mehmeti is just ridiculous, Cornick out wide was, unbelievably, better but still inept. Much quality needed in the summer.
