The fairground site is 16 acres, as a comparison, Leicester’s training ground is 165 acres, Boro’s is 160 acres, Leeds have great facilities but theirs is considered small at 30 acres, even York City have 18 acres.
the best place would be Springhead Golf Course - level it - plenty of space, easily accessible - stupid sport anyway hitting a ball with a stick and following it around - grow up
A lot of footballers like their golf so keep it as their personal course and you may be on to something.
With a nine hole golf course also, Springhead could be a goer. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
It wants ****ing levelling Miles too undulating at the moment. Not a flat lie in sight on any fairway Be a great course if it was flatter
I'm not having that, I was born in the greenkeepers lodge on the golf course, corner of Wymersley Road, sacred ground.
There’s a great book called Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell, it’s basically about how people became very successful in their field, it follows different stories of very gifted people and try’s to explain why some make it and some don’t. Of course you have to have talent and drive but a massive contributing factor the author discovered was opportunity, a variable as small as one parent that’s able to drive their child to training vs one child that isn’t able to attend training can be the difference between someone with Messi levels of potential making it or not, regardless of how talented they are. People like to say if they’re good enough they’ll be discovered, it’s simply not true. The academy in the city centre does make sense if it means more kids will be able to attend. Hull has a huge catchment area too so we should tap into that potential.
I played there for a lot of years, and these undulating lies made it harder than if it was flat. So part of the test, I remember my father telling me Percy Alliss father of Peter played an exhibition match there in the early days of the course and shot 71, and he said these undulating lies made it a harder test.
A fairway that isn't quite flat, what on Earth do we do about that?.We could bring in a digger, make the greens a bit bigger...Cost a fortune including the VAT!! Coat on....
