Maybe this thread should be closed now?

Reminds me of a group induction I had at my first ever place of work

The personel manager (a 55 year old) got to the subject of race on her list of things to talk about. This was due to the fact that the factory employed a lot of Portuguese and a few Polish workers. She explained in no uncertain terms that any racism of any sort was condemned and would result in instant dismissal. She wanted no racial slurs, nicknames, discrimination or any abuse given due to the nationality of a co-worker or the colour of their skin.

Being a polite 16 year old schoolboy (doing my GCSEs at the time), this was just the kind of thing I was relieved to hear; that my new employers took an assertive tone on this subject and would prevent any awkward situations as I was aware there was a foreign contingent on staff.

Her next subject was the management team, and she introduced us to each of the line & shift managers. She got to one chap called Steve Murphy, and uttered the immortal words that I'll never forget ...

"This is Steve, one of the day managers, we all call him Spud, because he's Irish" :undecided:

I get a lot of good-natured insults at work on account of being Scottish, but it's all good fun and helps to brighten up the job.

I get a lot of comments about being 'big boned' at work and I always put it down to the fact that I eat more than everybody else <ok>

It could mean that you have a large penis, don't ask me to check I'm not gay lol, but I've seen a few documentaries set in men's saunas and they go on about being big-boned to each other, then it all gets weird and I can barely watch til the end, maybe that is what your workmates mean AllHell, PS do you work in a sauna?

CharltonPat: Were you in Brixton today talking about the need for more black football managers?

In other words: are you Nick Clegg?
