If they do well, they won't bid for Van Persie. Is that an interesting take on things? If City didn't win the league, they might go 'WE NEED A STRIKER NAOOOOOOO' and bid for him. If they do well, they'll be like "Dzeko, Aguero, Balotelli, That's enough!".
Van Persie wont go to Man City. There's NO WAY he's far too loyal. Much like Henry he would only leave us to play abroad. ..........Also I really hope City dont make the latter stages of the Champions league.
Agree with all this. Besides, I don't see Citeh as the sort of team to go for the older players now. Think they're more likely to go for a younger player like Cavani. If RVP went anywhere I can only see it being abroad and at the end of this season. If he left it longer he's looking at joining a club in his 30s, no easy feat getting used to a new team/style/league (perhaps) then. Well I imagine so anyway. Not being a professional footballer I have nothing to base that on.
Hargreaves, Toure, Barry and Given all signed at the same age or over. Unfortunately, if they want someone they'll almost certainly get them.
The ONLY place I can see Van Persie go......is Madrid. If he goes to Madrid then one would hope Wenger would ask for Benzema, Higuain or Kaka ( Barcelona is not interested in him as he will not really fit their style and then there are no other teams in Spain. In italy they will simply not afford his wages. In england - no idea...dont think he will change club within the country.
To an extent I agree, but for different reasons. City's success in the league i.e. beating the teams around us, increases our chances of a top 4 finish. If they do win the league (I think they will) then we all know it's a hollow success because they bought it for £490m. Contrary to some views, I would much rather they won the league than Spurs. As for City's Champions League involvement, that looks likely to come to an end next week.
"I would much rather they won the league than Spurs." thats akin to saying ... i would much rather read the paper than have an alien police dog materialise in my lounge and give me the winning lottery numbers for next year. Spurs !!!
Erm... okay - agreed that Alien Police Dogs are about as likely as a Spurs title, but my commment was in reference to a Jayram preference for Spurs to win the league rather than City.
Yeah but Jayram has nightmares every night about Arsene Wenger in dressed in a strange , light blue kit , hitting him over the head with a kipper.. diagnosis ... acute citehphobia nasty .
I think City represent all that's wrong with money in football - but I'd still rather see them takes points off of the teams around us.
Yeah but their players dont offend the senses like Uniteds w@nkers . And if nothing else we can thank them for silencing all the feckin united "fans" who infest these boards. Its like they have all run to the hills .
That's what I'm saying, City's hollow success is easier to swallow than Utd or any of the others. The fact that they've shamelessly gone and tried to buy success just makes it shallow and meaningless. I'd be ashamed to revel in glory if Arsenal went and spent £490m to try and win the title.
Guys, you're just going to have to take my word for this but I have it on very good authority that RVP signs a new contract. As for City, the only attraction people have to the club is money, the club has no soul or identity anymore, players go merely to collect ££££, RVP is not that kind of footballer I think we all know that
I think RVP will sign a new contract with us, he's been consistent is saying that he's committed to Arsenal and dismissing media bullshit stories. The Premier League isn't all full of Samir Nasri's and Ashley Cole's
Bar Hargreaves the others were a couple of seasons back and the signings since have all been quality, young and top dollar. Baffled by the Hargreaves signing. Only reason I can think of is that it was just as a muscle flexing "**** you" to United.
Van Persie wont be joining us, hes to old and we have 2 world class strikers(Aguero and Balotelli)and one very good striker in Dzeko... imo we will g for Lavezzi.
S Freund is right, if the bullies with wallets want someone they'll get them, and as a Tottenham fan he should be checking the form of Chelsea because Modric was high on their wish list in the Summer and player was clearly interested with the money on offer. For my money there's way more chance of Modric leaving than RVP....
If we can't do it, I really hope Citeh win the league. It will piss off Man U and Chelsea. I just hope they don't do it unbeaten though. It will prove that any team that gets a multi-billionaire in can buy the league. Just like Chelsea did. Also there is no way that RVP will go there. I firmly believe that the player is loyal and will sign.
I'm concerned with the unsettling effect that bids for Bale and Modric could have in January but I have no doubts whatsoever that they will not be sold unless an astronomical offer came in, ie a Torres and some change. If we miss out on the CL again I wouldn't be surprised if we lost some of our top players in the summer but that's if.
I could be proved wrong, but I don't think there's any way RVP will shaft us like Nasri did. I think he understands more than most what Arsenal have been through as he's the only one in the squad who was there when we last won the FA Cup. I think he also understands the fine margins between success and failure and knows that Arsenal have always been challenging. Narsi and Cesc may have become frustrated at not winning anything and felt that their only chance was with another club. But I'm confident that Van Persie will lift as trophy for us - and that would be the ultimate reward for an exceptional player.
