Ah, well when Kenny retires in 10-12 years' time, I'll have to throw my hat in for the job. Scottish Grandfather on me Ma's side, and a Scouse Grandfather on my Da's side. My Da was born in North Wales. No skirt wearing in this house, tho'
Now stop it girls with yer "I'm more Scouse than you are" Whichever one gets it just reserve me a seat in the Directors Box
Well, it would be interesting to have a foreign manager who has experience not only in the job he is doing but the club he will be managing, understanding the history etc. So I guess it would be a good shout for Rodolfo Borrell, initial one-two year deal and extension options?
How about a bit of a gamble on someone like Rogers at Swansea. He's young, plays good football and with better players could do really well. Has done an excellent job at Swansea? Lack of experience may hinder him however Hodgsons "experience" didn't hold him in good stead.
Steve Gerard is going to make a better manager, after all he has been tipped for England manager's job by 'Arry.
for me; 1. borrell is not good enough for the role, he's a youth coach and i don't see him as a manager 2. no-ones mentioned the obvious candidate who is at the club and has ambitions.... steve clarke. he wants to be a manager and i think he's with us to further that. 3. gerrard will not make a manager, carragher is the sort i think is too emotional and would annoy expensive foreigners too much all just my opinions.
I see what you're saying but from what I've seen and heard about Carragher, he seems to be a real student of the games i.e. enjoys watching it at all levels. Of course, this does not translate into him becoming a top class manager but he appears to be the type who is willing to watch every match, every minute and analyse things.
i agree with that but i get the feeling he's phil thompson not kenny dalglish.... he strikes me as someone who'd annoy the hell out of some guys in about a week. lets see him coaching first
On a serious note, what is the correct spelling of Gerrard or Gerard they Liverpool website spelt both ways many times before. Both spelling correct.???
As far as I am aware, Gerrard has always deflected questions about future roles in football by refering to Carragher. So, from a very ill-informed base I would suggest that he would not want a mamangement position. However, once his playing days are finished, I coud see him working for the club in an ambassadorial role. As has been said above Carragher is student of the game. I don't know how far he has got with his training badges but I can see him moving from the playing to the coaching staff at the end of this season. If he blossoms in that role and shows a real intent to move into management, that could leave Kenny with a dilema.
you are right gerrard has deflected those questions, and wisely IMO given his status at the club. Carragher gave interview recently where he mentioned how long he'd play for,and he said he still had to get the B class uefa badges. I think he will go for coaching but when if certainly a question. in my view our club doesn't have enough real football coaches still so adding another to the new boot room would be ok as far as i'm concerned. roy evans was picked out at 26 and he worked so carragher has a chance
Sami Hyppia was planning to go into coaching at Leverkusen and with the Finnish National Team. I don't know what progress he made with coaching at Leverkusen, but he is working with the Finnish team. I'd love to see the big guy back at the club - perhaps coming back initially into the coaching setup, and if Clarke does step up to replace Kenny in 10 years' time, perhaps Sami could replace Clarke in 20 years?
I think Joachim Lowe would be a good shout, he plays good football as demonstrated by the German national team and is relatively young still, the only thing against him is his lack of club management experience. Maybe Van Gaal although he's not much different to KK in terms of age but he has a great track record and he would definitely be able to handle the pressure just ask the Bayern squad http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/s...ss-louis-van-gaal-showed-us-his-balls?cc=5739
If anything that would work in our favour. It means that Commoli would have more influance regarding transfers leaving Low to do what he does best
