This is a racist thing now? White Israel vs the brown people of Gaza? Half the Jewish population of Israel are descended from Jews that were expelled from Arab countries from 1948 (no right to return of course). Did this thing start on 7 October? Well there are several dates you could cite. Perhaps one would be September 2005 when Israel unilaterally left Gaza in the hands of the Palestinians, a defacto Palestinian state. Or maybe June 2007 when Hamas took over Gaza (remember that was a kind of civil war between Hamas and Fatah). But with no Israelis in Gaza, that would have been a great time to build a functioning society with all sorts of aid being received. But of course Hamas hates Israel more than it cares for it's own people, so the aid was channeled into building terrorist infrastructure, buying weapons and of course supporting the extravagant lifestyle of the Hamas leadership in Qatar. And if you do believe that Israel are always going to be the aggressor, then maybe build some bomb shelters or similar to protect the civilian population? Even the Nazis did that in Germany. But no, the tunnels are for Hamas terrorist purposes only. The civilians must be left exposed to attack to maximise their death rate for propaganda reasons. And now Hamas are being defeated and destroyed, and many in the west demand a ceasefire, while Hamas still holds hostages, which will save Hamas and postpone this violence until next time. Because there was technically a ceasefire in force on 7 October as well. How can you deal with people whose only goal appears to be Israel's destruction? And to suggest Israel isn't civilised when you compare it to Hamas is astounding. And I realise writing all this was completely pointless.
Not pointless but it highlights the selective use of dates used by you and others. It's actually quite simple if you invade land and claim it for yourself the local population will protest and in desperation use violence. As many Jews around the world say. Israel is a threat to their safety. It could be different. Most countries accept that Israel exists. Nearly all countries are formed by force but in the end have to come to an accommodation with their neighbours. Until Israel behaves in a more civilised way the violence will continue. Hopefully increasing political pressure on the USA and the UK will cause them to take their zionist friends to task. The first step would be for Israel to stop voting for fascists.
Not sure how a reference to an IDF commander telling his troops... "We must be careful not to use force where it is not required, to distinguish between a terrorist and those who are not, not to take anything that is not ours — a souvenir or weapons — and not to film revenge videos” turns into ppl intimidating MPs? I notice this a lot with those defending the mass murder being committed by the fascist Israeli government and the IDF. The narrative must quickly be deflected and switched to antisemitism and protesters. Nevertheless to answer your assumption, yes no one would want that. Here's something for you to consider though, the vast majority, if not all, of MPs who want to vote for a ceasefire do so because they absolutely believe in it
This is another piece of misinformation that the Israelis are peddling. In September 2005 Gaza did not become a defacto state. For that to happen Israel would need to recognise it as one, which it doesn't. Under international law it remained an occupying power. The reason for this is because it controls/blockades all of Gaza's air, sea and land borders. That under international law is still an occupation. Not to mention their water and electric supply. You keep banging on about Hamas like somehow ppl on here support them. Nobody does, no matter how much you keep trying to push this. Now something for you to consider - in the election in Gaza nearly 18 years ago, the Palestinian people had the "luxury" of choosing between Hamas or Fatah whilst continuing to be under the illegal occupation of Israel. What a choice lol. It's like a choice between the frying pan or the fire while some bloke holds a blowtorch at your head (I'll let you figure out who each of the 3 are in that analogy).
Just another right-wing conspiracy theorist who happens to love Russia. Wonderful company that you're keeping, Liz.
Netanyahu has revealed his 'resolution offer'.... Keeping full control of Gaza - actually all land west of Jordan, discounting any consideration of a Palestinian state and removing the UN aid agencies. Yes, that all sounds perfectly reasonable.... He just doesn't care, does he? Not concerned with upsetting Biden or other world leaders. He knows that when push comes to shove, they will just tut loudly and do **** all.
Netanyahu knows it's U.S. election year. Worst case scenario, fck all is done to stop him, best case (realistic) scenario Trump comes in and gifts them everything anyway. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the strategy of "Israel doing what it wants whilst the likes of Biden and Blinken make a lot of soundbites so it looks like they care" isn't a behind the scenes handshake between them.
I hear a fair bit of support for the Rwanda nonsense. Living in South London, near Croydon and all that entails, doesn't help with that, but fairly normal people, that I know, have been conned into believing that sending 200 souls to Rwanda is an important issue in dealing with a problem that it will do nothing to address. To my mind, the lack of an alternative, sensible policy of actually processing applications and cooperation across borders with other nations, has allowed those wanting to withdraw from the ECHR to turn the maddest, practically irrelevant policy into a cause celebre and the new Brexit. Also, never underestimate people's propensity for bigotry and cruelty.
I hear you and I'm sure there are areas that will levitate in that direction, but fortunately - for now at least - it's not a working majority. I was born and brought up In Streatham and then South Croydon. A different place 45-60 years ago though... It's vital that Labour (working with France) introduce a proper Immigration programme. It's not exactly rocket science!
@PleaseNotPoll asked why Reform was getting support. My response was a theory as to why. Somewhere between 25% and 38% of UK people self identify as being prejudiced against people of other races when asked in surveys and nearly 40% of those say they vote Conservative so I don't think it is controversial to say that a third of Conservative voters are racist. In response to my post you made a categorical assertion. What is your evidence?
I mean Starmer was on the blower to Isaac Herzog before he blackmailed Lindsay Hoyle into muzzling the SNP on one of their scant Opposition Days...
Isn't it time that somebody sat Liz Truss down and explained to her, very carefully, that she should be thankful her abject uselessness was exposed long before people realised what a nasty little **** that nobody would touch with a 10ft cattle prod she is? And on the subject of Truss, here's the company she's keeping these days
Tories harangued Starmer for taking 36 hours to withdraw the whip from his candidate Azir Ali for his anti-Semitic comments. Wonder whether Sunak will be as quick to suspend 30p Leeanderthal for his ridiculous Islamaphobic attack on Sadiq Khan?
