Good Morning. It's Friday 23rd February, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Maresca singles out fantastic four

Foxes boss Enzo Maresca has singled out the Leeds front four as the danger men his team will need to keep contained, if they're going to have any chance of coming with with anything this evening.

Leeds are on a fantastic run of form, having won all eight of their league games this year, as well as reaching the last 16 of the FA Cup. They overcame Leicester City in the reverse fixture in November, and are the first Championship outfit this season, actually tipped by the bookies to beat them.

Maresca described the Leeds front four as 'fantastic', but also spoke of the importance of keeping the Elland Road faithful quiet - some hope...

“It will be very important if we are able to decrease the atmosphere. “The reason why they didn’t drop points at home. I don't know. The last time I was there with Man City, we won, so they can lose at home. They say the atmosphere is very good.”

“I think they are quite similar," "They are very dangerous when the opposition have the ball. They have very good players, especially the four up front. They are fantastic.”

    End of season pitch invasion

I ran a recent poll regarding a possible pitch invasion on the last game of the season at Elland Road, and opinion is divided.

The Championship promotion race looks set to go down to the wire. Southampton's trip to LS11 on May 4th (also Star Wars day) could very well determine which of the two sides will be playing Premier League football next season.

Emotions will be running high, and should everything go to plan, I just can't see Leeds fans staying in their seats, and 76.5% of the poll agree with me, but that leaves almost a quarter that don't. They're concern is possible points deductions if there is a pitch invasion, which could scupper automatic promotion.

Diggle arrives as new Academy Manager

Liverpool's Head of Coaching Development Martin Diggle is set to leave Anfield to become Leeds Utd's new Academy Manager.

The highly respected coach joins after almost five years at Anfield and nine years with the FA where he held positions such as Elite Youth Coach Development Lead. He joined the FA in the same year as Michael Skubula (2010), and although they held different posts, would have spent nearly nine years working in the same organisation, so it's fair to assume their paths overlapped.

Skubula is still close to those at Elland Road, so it wouldn't be surprising if he had a hand to play in helping Leeds get their man!

Diggle replaces Adam Underwood who moved up to Head of Football Operations eight months ago. He is highly thought of at Elland Road, and was instrumental in helping the Whites achieve Category One status for their academy.

The move is the latest in a long line of changes the 49ers have made since taking charge seven months ago. Most recently, we have seen Scott Gardner take the reigns with the U21's, and bring in former England star Stewart Downing as his assistant. We have also seen Jordan Miles come in from Aberdeen to take up a role as head of recruitment.
