That's a very poor article in my view. An opinion piece dressed up as of it's factual: Whatever theory suggests Sunderland should be fighting off applications from the likes of Graham Potter is flawed. It lacks a basic comprehension of reality. As for KLD's flawed blueprint, it's too simplistic to blame a lack of experience. Plenty of teams packed with experience throughout this league and ones below fail every single season. If we had Amad, Stewart and Broadhead, I very much doubt people will be shouting for experience. No-one next season is going to want us to say no to Tyler Morton and Morgan Whittaker to sign Adam Forshaw and Jamal Lowe. It's quality that matters and that usually costs the kind of money that teams with parachute payments or significant debts have.
I had to laugh at this bit, "Although it is entirely sensible that the billionaire Louis-Dreyfus wants to run Sunderland as a sustainable business, his blueprint for success is flawed." In other words 'SPEND SPEND SPEND and keep spending!!!"
Another Louise Taylor hit piece. Did the same after Mowbray was sacked. Wonder what KLD has done to her.
It's the bit about going through some many head coaches is a little misleading. When AN pissed off we were in limbo, the club made the right decision in bringing TM in at short notice, however I do believe that was supposed to be short term until the end of last season, but because of how well he did they were kind of forced to extend his stay when they possibly had a long term replacement in sight. They got rid of Mowbray when he hit a brick wall, then realistically their preferred option was unavailable till the end of the season. I've said before I think the club thought a combination of Beale and Dodds may have been a better option than just Dodds till the end of the season, I agree that's something they did get wrong. I do feel that AN was the only appointment they have made that they thought could be a long term option. If another option was available at the time he would have been employed, so to me it's not getting the appointments wrong, more a case of the right one not being available at the time needed
It's really annoying. Our plan might not be perfect. But no-one is writing articles criticising the bloated squads full of expensive journeymen that many managers acquire in the name of "experience". It's like we're singled out for daring to go against the gravy train.
The last three managers have taken the money, agreed the terms and complained about the terms once they've taken the money ... ... but apparently the club, KLD and Speakman are completely to blame for everything. How about the next manager accepts the terms and actually acts upon them while anyone who can't do the job, with what we have, f**ks off.
She's been like that for more years than I care to remember. I remember her being interviewed in ALS back when she first came to prominence and how she was a huge fan from childhood but about a year or so later hearing from someone that she'd been pulled up after she made a comment about how she'd rather pay to watch the mags (when Keegan was in charge) than being paid to report on one of our matches. Maybe it was her way if say how exciting the mags were then, but if it is it's badly worded at best and isn't a good thing when words are your occupation. After that and her extolling the virtues of Rob "Libro Lee" and a comment about us replacing Reid with Ossie Ardiles after the second 7th place finish, I've always dismissed her as a poor, lacking journalist who touts her opinions more than facts and isn't as connected or insightful as she thinks. Twenty or so years ago I thought it might have been because she'd clashed with Reid or Murray or wasn't happy that she didn't get exclusives out of the club at the time, but she's never really changed, so I think it's really just her as a person.
