So the Speaker of the HC does a murky, underhand deal with his old party to save Starmer of the embarrassment of his Muslim and Hard Left MP's voting against his qualified call for a ceasfire in Gaza.

Let's hope the ref in our match on Saturday isn't similarlly in the pocket of Rotherham.

I didn't understand really what the fuss was about until I read the SNP ammendment.

As well as calling for a ceasefire, Stephen Flynn’s group has tabled the motion calling for the “immediate release of all hostages taken by Hamas and an end to the collective punishment of the Palestinian people”.

It was the last 6 words that were the dealbreaker.

Although I personally agree with the sentiments of the amendment, I can see how none of the major parties would have voted for it.

Likewise the tory proposal was for a humantarian pause.

I think the speaker was being pragmatic..
But it all went T*ts up.

The stupid thing is no one cares. We can say anything we like but Israel, Hammas and associated bodies do not care an inch

In summary, the SNP had a big day out planned all about attacking Labour rather than giving a **** about poxy Gaza and were mugged off. Meanwhile the good folk of Rafah have their lives impacted exactly as much as if they’d voted on the SNP amendment.

The speaker wasn't being "pragmatic" Beth, he was being biased, hence his apology.
Worst generation of politicians by a mile.

What on Saturday...not sure Starmer is a registered referee, but even then he would be better than Stroud.

as pointed out on radio just now.

If the Tories had voted against the Labour ammendment ( with plus the SNPs) with a majority of 70, it would have been thrown out and then the SNP amendment would have then been voted on .

But unfortunately the SNPs ( and everyone else) knows it too would have also been thrown out ...as it contained the anti Israel statement at the end.

The SNPs...must be revelling in the chaos they have caused.

    As said.

And what diffence would a house of commons vote on this issue do to either side anyhow.
    Complete farce

Things will inevitably be better under Starmer, if only because they couldn't possibly be worse.

How do you think Kemi's doing?

    Not inevitable at all.

The PO row will make or break Kemi.
I don't trust any politicians, but I also certainly don't trust that ex head of the PO.

Badenoch has also been accused of misleading parliament over the Canada trade talks. Plus, she's been accused of lying about engaging “extensively” with LGBT groups when she hadn't even met them. I know who I believe in the PO row.

Think it all started when people voted Boris johnson in as PM. The country has never been the same since. Looking forwards to the Tories self destructing. Ruined this once great country.
