Hm I think financially it is, but take your point about the cost of upkeep at BB. Just think in terms of training facilities to attract better players and to actually improve players (recovery, training, etc.) it is.

One would assume they would want to upgrade to Category 1 status for the academy, I'm not sure what the criteria is to gain this, but I guess that would have to be taken into account.

Progress no doubt until someone mentions the elephant in the room....Hull Fair. Hull's biggest eyesore site by some margin...yet some dinosaur councillors seem to think the sun shines out of its arse, (if that's possible). Just because its been there since some of them were lads, doesn't mean to say it needs to stay. Yet they don't seem to be able to grasp that, unless I'm being a tad dismissive.

    Dreadful
It’s almost as if they’re refusing to meet their legal obligation to inform this board of every detail well before any public engagement starts.
And their constitutional need to publish all their plans well before they’ve engaged with the planning committee at the pre application stage…

Just relax. We’ll see it soon enough

I understand we're not entitled and shouldn't expect to see any detail.

But I think that given how many times we've been around the block with this, it'd be naive to get excited about progress when there's no real indication (publicly at least) that anything significant has actually changed from the status quo.

I know you seem to be well informed on council matters so if you think there's reason to be optimistic then great. But from what's in the public domain and what the statement says this morning, I don't think there's anything beyond the usual vague positivity without any firm commitment, that we've had for years now (aside from the period when the Allams took it off the table altogether obviously).

I've not followed this really, are they proposing a little stadium next door like Doncaster/Man City? I wonder if Hull FC will play their Home games there except for the big ones against Leeds and Hull KR?

I’m fairly well conversant with how councils work, but have no more info than you on this (other than I was pretty sure from some chats I’d had that we were due to see an announcement that all parties would support…no idea what it actually is though)
I was commenting on the raft of questions you had and the comment that it’s still unclear, that’s all (and not having an argument, more a tongue in cheek comment that’s all)
I have no reason to be positive, other than knowing it was more likely with this owner rather than the previous pair and they at least seem to be saying we’ll see some actual plans in not too long…rather than just a photo of someone looking at plans in a field!

From what I'm hearing, Acun wanted planning approval to land his plane down Walton Street, but too many potholes!

I think the plan is to turn Anlaby Rd flyover into a runway and replace Anlaby Rd with a tunnel from 3 Tuns to Horners.
    Makes sense.

I don't know the detail of the latest proposal from the club, but tbf, I'm quite liking the idea of our academy there, possibly a smaller stadium for FC, and / or maybe ladies and U21's etc?
IF the club could get the whole area and develop a sports village for 1st team and academy and FC then it could be great .... but that just ain't gonna happen.
So, maybe this is the next best thing, as I don't think the academy should be out of town.
Hopefully the club gets it's own covered training pitch(es) out of all this too, be it around the MKM and / or wherever the 1st team end up.
It's not just about City either, it's also needed development for the area.

As I asked once before, is the land around the MKM a Tardis? It would have to be to fit all these things in. Why shouldn’t the academy be out of town? Loads of clubs have their training pitches and academies out of town. And they are easier to get to than driving through the chaos on Hull’s roads which is a daily occurrence.

It's quite an investment, you need a minimum budget of £2.5m and a minimum 18 full time staff to be eligible for Cat 1.

I think it's good news if, as today's article seems to suggest, they're now just looking to move the academy next to the stadium. It avoids the issue of the fair site and the issue of it being a terrible site for the first team training facilities, so is a much more practical option.

The Leicester owner was killed, assuming you’re not being facetious.

The first team not being there is great, but it would still be so much better to have everyone together on a out of town site to the west of the city

Agree however development plans for the stadium and immediate area are also needed, the council are receptive, it shows the owners are in it long term, they are following planning procedures, this is all good news. A new first team training ground in the leafy suburbs to be announced in due course and we'll be set to achieve our potential.

Agree re the stadium and immediate area, but that could be many different things. We as a club should be doing things that best help us long term, which that means having everyone together on one site
