Mary, Mungo and Midge are grasping at thet fact they hope 3 are down already. This will be the only thing that I think could save us. Mundane Mundell with the Shelf Stacker's apologists comment that division 3 is "competitive" is laughable. Supposedly top 6 budget, but bottom 6 position highlights the FACTS on how bad things are.
This month gives us Reading, Bolton and Derby away. Portsmouth at home will be easy though I'm not liking this at all. Come the 1st April we could be flagging in the bottom four.
Elfs you're suffering from a severe case of Outcome bias If Charlton get relegated by fine margins we aren't really the worst CAFC team in living memory. That's just inside our heads After all football isn't a results game, it's about the journey so chill out and have a nice cup of Mary, Mungo and Midge? I wish we were run by Rod, Jane and Freddy...
This is the time of the season when even some Clubs who have been in the drop zone for months get their act together. Reading are well on the way to escaping. Port Vale and Cheltenham are showing some signs of life. With over a quarter of our season remaining Charlton should not be so poor as for fans to give up all hope. But our remaining February matches are very tough. This is going to be a real test of character in the dressing room, and a real test of Nathan Jones. Has he got what it takes? And there's no room left for any bad luck. It will be a miracle if we get more than 6 games out of Chuks before he breaks down again. Nervous times...
This doesn’t help… https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/sport/charlton-athletic-duo-one-yellow-card-away-from-two-game-ban/
And Cambridge lost, so results went as well as we could’ve hoped for last night. Plus Lyle Taylor got a straight red, although to be fair it looked very harsh. Port Vale are one of only three teams currently on worse form than us. Posh and Carlisle being the others. Cheltenham’s form is now our biggest worry, but maybe we can drag Shrewsbury back below us and finish a respectable 20th still. Note to Methven, Rodwell and Scott - the idea is that you double our points, not our empty seats, nor our league position #thomasgot10th
There is nothing that gives me any hope of survival. *teams above us have games in hand. *teams below us have games in hand, which should put us in the drop zone. *five games without a win since Appleton booted, Jones has been in charge of three of them. *the next two games I cannot see us winning, this will lead to a very depressing March with 4 aways in 6 games.
Give the bloke a bit of time! There has already been signs of a gradual improvement. Anderson and Kanu especially are responding to Jones.
Our next four games. Portsmouth h 0 Derby a 0 Northampton a 1 Cheltenham a 0 I'm off for a beer and chill
