this is interesting please log in to view this image Merc have massively more downforce running on the front end and the rear wing on the merc is much broader.
I know it's only testing day 1, but RBR being 1.5 seconds up on last year at this time is ominous. Unless the rest of the field have a ton in their pockets, this season could very well follow the same pattern as 2023, if not worse.
It looks planted as well- like they’re doing it with relative ease. Even Newey has been smiling - unlike him!
Our only hope (other than Obi Wan) is that Horner has taken umbrage at the Verstappen's alleged attempt to oust him and ****s him over.
It’s mental isn’t it. Surely they haven’t even pushed hard yet either- there’s no way they’d show their hand before everyone else. If that’s how it shakes out in the first couple of races, il take a back seat and watch some Indy too- I can’t commit time on weekends watching anything that’s as dull or perhaps worse than what I watched last year. Let’s see how the teams build across days 2 and 3 but early signs are ominous for sure.
please log in to view this image Thats a good day for ferrari and mclaren Not a good day for mercs. it looks horrid on the bumps. We really really do not want a RB1 and RBlite championship!
You're guaranteed a race with Indy. F1 has taken a back seat to it for me for years now. I'm trying to not be too pessimistic with 2 days of testing to go, but this doesn't look great for a championship battle. Everything behind may be interesting, but give Max the title now. We could have a poll on which race RBR shift development to 2025.
Day 3 Last year: 1:30.305 Day 1 this year 1:31.344 Not soft running in hot conditions yet. Theres still a lot for teams to improve on all round the paddock. Quali last year in bahrain was 1:29.708. Call it 0.5 seconds faster than the test. YOu'd sort of expect pole to be around 1:28.5 this time round already and lets see who turns up day 1 and gets near that.
I do like this years Ferrari- nice to see some colour! I thought their car looked decent on the eye so interested to see if they can turn it up tomorrow and Friday.
I prefer it without the stripes. It looks a bit too much FW20 to me. please log in to view this image
Ah yes the Winfield Williams of 1998! Was that Neweys first McLaren that year too that game Mika back to back Championships?
Yup. And didn't Zanardi start the first few races in the FW20, or was that 1999? Maybe 1999 because I think Villeneuve was off to BAR that year.
Really like that man . in the garage today , everyone in their RBR team wear except him . Blue polo or T-shirt and Jeans . when he was at McLaren , he had his office painted a different shade to all the other offices , just to send a message to Ron
Hopefully we start seeing some long runs and some analysis of that from today. The headline pace is pretty meaningless in terms of how races will manifest. Looking at the cars on track, I think we’ll see that both the Aston and the Merc are much stronger than they appeared today.
