Just tried to take a peek on the Southampton board. It appears I’m still banned despite having never posting on there. The thick Sunderland nobs banned be from theirs years ago but must have hit the wrong tab. I feel like Stefan Kiszko
Twilight zone having a read on the Saints forum They call it "Russ ball" when it goes to **** (Sounds.....familiar ) https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/topic/60709-saints-v-hull-tues-20th-feb-1945/page/16/ Need to get some highlights now
Mick Channon, Matt Le Tissier, Lawrie McMenemy, Terry Paine, Benny Hill, Charlie Dimmock, Brian Eno, Rishi Sunak - your boys took one hell of a beating
Southampton manager Russell Martin told BBC Radio Solent: "In the first half we went with a game plan, which I felt we learned from the first game against them and had a lot of success in the second half, so that's on me. "We started well but didn't score and the first goal we conceded was really rubbish, especially considering we worked in training on that exact move because you see Hull do it a lot. "At Bristol City we lacked aggression and intensity, but tonight we lacked courage in the first half in a big, big way. Hull were very good and much braver than us. "The biggest difference is that Hull were all in, in what they were doing, and we weren't." Hull mangod Liam Rosenior told BBC Radio Humberside: "I'm proud, [it was] a really good performance. To come here against what is a fantastic team at this level, with an outstanding manager, and for the players to show the appetite to run, to press and to play with the quality we played with at times - I'm very, very happy. "I wanted tonight to be a benchmark for the players to have a little more belief in what we're doing, and show what we're about, to combine spirit with quality. They showed me that in bucketloads. "People might say it's a great performance tactically but it's not tactics, it's an appetite to run and fight, and a bravery to play."
I thought we had slightly less possession, a more aggressive press and created more chances in the 90, yes.
We play better with less pressure. Let's get the home fans singing like the away support from the off on Saturday, rather than waiting for the team to 'give us something to cheer about' first.
Listening to LR on BBC and he mentioned it, but Bazunu v Allsop and I thought Allsop came out on top in terms of his distribution, timing (when to come, when to stay) and positioning (claimed a through ball excellently, was brilliant and resolute at corners to claim the loose balls). Top performance for him. Deserved a CS which was a shame.
He was probably Southamptons most creative player, at least he didn’t rub butter on his gloves today though.
