We'll see you both outside.....always a good pisstake that one.
Or ( and this is a golden oldie)..I hear the sound of distant bums, over there, over there, and If they come.......
I particularly like Peters and Lee 'Welcome Home' which was often sang by the Goolies.
Remember Liverpool coming for a pre season friendly and they stood in the North stand singing 'You get your education from the Kop... ( repeat)...'
They were probably right too as we did copy our songs from other clubs. Even in those days we used to long for a club song of our own, I've even heard 'old faithfull' sang at City.
Perhaps the only original one we have is the mauled by the tigers chant.
Some of you might remember a little movement to adopt the Watersons 'Three Day Millionaire' a few years back, even to having meetings in pubs in town pre season to iron out the words......it never caught on.
And one City fan (BL) who I think has stepped down from his job of composing City songs, ( he compared the stage in the Crystal Rooms at Wembley, superby, i might add) really tried to get off the ground a song for Mark Hately, based on a Scottish song, 'You take the high road...' or something very similiar. i suggest to City at the time that BL should be on the payroll because he was a one man songmaister and worth his weight in gold for getting the crowds going in those days when there wasn't a lot of us to get going.
Happy days eh?
