Great track tho , Peter Noone still doing it in the US I think , on you tube , they had some decent hits to be honest although he always reminded me of that pudding who did the Confessions filmed in the 70’s LOL

Only us oldies remember that song was a Cookies original, written by the great Goffin and King.

They also did the original of another Goffin and King number which was one of my favourite tracks of the Beatles first album.

It was 60 year old version by the Cookies I was referring to.

To be fair most songs by Goffin & King would make decent chants! (And the Carole King musical is superb btw)

Some great trips down memory lane here.

But I just wish the North Stand or whoever would take a chance and show some originality.

That version 'I'm into something good' for example. I remember Man Utd fans singing that about Jose M when we were in the PL last, probably considered way way beyond passé these days by other clubs.

Not the most important thing I know and people supporting the team/having a good time is paramount, but come on, with social media and connectivity surely making it easier to try something new, unique to City and that others may copy for a change.

I think after scoring a goal the stadium tanoy system should blast out Tiger Feet by Mud then everyone can sing along.

Not if it's a header of course, will have to think of something else for that.

We'll see you both outside.....always a good pisstake that one.
Or ( and this is a golden oldie)..I hear the sound of distant bums, over there, over there, and If they come.......
I particularly like Peters and Lee 'Welcome Home' which was often sang by the Goolies.
Remember Liverpool coming for a pre season friendly and they stood in the North stand singing 'You get your education from the Kop... ( repeat)...'
They were probably right too as we did copy our songs from other clubs. Even in those days we used to long for a club song of our own, I've even heard 'old faithfull' sang at City.
Perhaps the only original one we have is the mauled by the tigers chant.
Some of you might remember a little movement to adopt the Watersons 'Three Day Millionaire' a few years back, even to having meetings in pubs in town pre season to iron out the words......it never caught on.
And one City fan (BL) who I think has stepped down from his job of composing City songs, ( he compared the stage in the Crystal Rooms at Wembley, superby, i might add) really tried to get off the ground a song for Mark Hately, based on a Scottish song, 'You take the high road...' or something very similiar. i suggest to City at the time that BL should be on the payroll because he was a one man songmaister and worth his weight in gold for getting the crowds going in those days when there wasn't a lot of us to get going.
Happy days eh?
UTT.
What were the words ironed out for 3 Day Millionaire?
I always thought it should have been fairly easy, because there’s a pause after the line anyway, to replace ‘couldn’t give a bugger I’m a man’ with ‘couldn’t give a bugger I’m a City fan’

Never heard those versions love the simplicity like they’re singing in your front room,- now , how can I overwrite them into some threat of severe violence that will never happen !!

Is there such a thing as a bad Goffin and King song? That was what was great about the early 1960s, the Beatles and the Stones and others covering songs which led you to look up the originals which then led to a load of great music by those artists.

Really I’d settle for caravan of love, easy to sing memorable good chorus/ hook and decent links to here .
My mates hate ‘wise men’ as it’s other teams song and nowts worse than oppos joining in !!!

A song written by a Blunts fan? No ta.

Ah forgot that , scrap the idea unless we think very few will know that , now you’ve kept it quiet. LOL

Actually, I ballsed up. It was sung by a Blunts fan, not written by one. Don’t like it anyway, it is a bit of a dirge.
