Once again, we Pompey fans have to put up with dodgy owners and the potential threat of administration and liquidation if the worst comes into effect. It all could be false and Antonov could be innocent in all this, but if the worst does happen and we start a phoenix club, would bad?

Think about, a lot of fans wish they could go back to the good old days of standing with your mates on the terreces and a lot of fans who couldn't experience this due to age (a la me) wish they could. If a phoenix club was started up under whatever name, wouldn't we be back to those times? Think about how fun it would be to rise up the divisions potentially the way AFC Wimbledon did. Then 1 day in the FA cup, we make it into the 3rd round and who do we draw? Southampton away. Don't laugh Saints fans but what if we beat them. Imagine what it would mean. We finally get to the top division with a clean slate, a club owned by the fans for the fans, mixing it with the billionaires of the Prem.

I don't want Portsmouth Fc to go out of business but when you look at it this way, maybe its the only way for all the owners **** to stop.

I don't think you would find it very satisfying, to be frank. What attendances would AFC Portsmouth attract? If you managed to somehow lease Fratton Park, the atmosphere would be pretty uninspiring, as would the quality of the football, once all your players had left.
It's romantic as an idea and at least the speculators would be gone, but it might take decades to build the club up to its former position.

A phoenix club has it's advantages and disadvantages. As Channon says, it could take ages to get back up maybe. Just because AFC Wimbledon have shot up the leagues, doesn't mean we necessarily would.

Also, if you wanna experience terracing, go watch Havant & Waterlooville when Portsmouth are away! I've experienced terracing many a time.

Surely that would be a good idea regardless as the current club seems to have the indelible link to cr@p owners and shady dealings. Start a club by the fans for the fans would surely be more satisfying...?

Be very careful what you wish for Hemanator!
You are not dead in the water yet, but I think it is rather disturbing that Lampitt has not stepped forward to assure you fans that there is nothing to worry about.
I may be doing Lampitt an injustice, but he has never displayed that transparency that breeds confidence in the fans. Appearances at fans forums etc are always a bit of a smoke and mirrors operation with genuine questions largely unanswered

I imagine this thread is the result of reading a post from some-one [I saw it but can't find it now to quote it <doh>] stating that, if you go into administration three times you are liquidated.

It's a technical point, but I feel a valid one that I make when I point out that Portsmouth City Football Club Ltd went into administration twice, but that company has already been liquidated and Portsmouth Football Club (2010) Ltd has never been in administration!

Ah yes, but is it a FL law where it is regardless of what the "Club" are/were called; 3 strikes and you're out????? Otherwise, you could keep renaming and re-entering admin, surely?

Don't get me wrong peeps, I don't want to lose my club.

Its not so much wishing I want that certain course of events to happen, I was just pondering what it would be like to have a club with no criminal activity attached to it, in the main. I firmly support Mr Antonov until he is proven guilty of whatever he may have done (looking quite likely now though). I thought all this up while in Biology, watching a boring video on a subject I already know.

Anyway, I don't think we'll go into admin or lose the club. I think that if it really does go tits up for Antonov, he'll pass on his shares of the club to Mr Dubov and Akers. Again we won't be minted but its not like they've splashed the cash on us anyway. And i'm pretty sure if we average 14000 gates we break even. Was 15000 last season but the wage bill has been reduced somewhat.

If the **** really did hit the fan I reckon AFC Pompey would probably be accepted into the Southern League Division One South and West, which would throw up a couple of interesting Derbies; with Gosport Borough and with Sholing.

I think home games would attract crowds in the high four figure bracket, which would be a bit of an eye opener for football at that level.
