Unfortunately the **** Ashworth has given everyone outside this club a hard on. We've just got to laugh with it I guess.
20 million should free us a decent amount of money. He who laughs last n all that.... Next seasons a new season.
Think we paid about £4m to get him out of Brighton or something. So that, plus his contract value, should see us get around £12m. Which is fair enough. Personally think he rode the wave of Tony Bloom's scouting program for more than anyone gave credit for. If Michael Edwards is right and it's all about agent relationships then I can only suggest Ashworth doesn't have any - £30m for Hall and £55m for Tonali (whose agent guaranteed knew what he was doing) is robbery. Let's see what Eales does next. Big step forward?
Hopefully he wanted Phillips... most his signings have been dull. All our best players were nowt to do with him bar Gordon.
Anyone know what secrets a club who's last major trophy was 68 years ago (let's not pretend to count the Championship or Intertoto Cup) are so hell bent on keeping?
It was never Ashworth with relationships with agents or the knowledge with regards first team. It's is, was and will continue to be Steve Nickson. Think we simply got caught in the trap last year of trying to buy the best players that got relegated and wound up paying more than we had hoped. We looked at Maddison, Barnes, Tielemans (for a while), Livramento. Hopefully this year we avoid **** out of Sheff Utd, Luton and Everton cast off's.
