Reading rumours that Veliz ruptured his knee ligaments and could be out for the rest of the season.

Gutted for him if true.

I know we do tend to take the p*** about his story but in reality it is quite a sad saga. Feel for him really...

I do feel bad for him but not to the same extent as say for Ledley, Dembele, Wanyama or Mason.

We've seen so little of any note from him in 4-5 seasons I just have literally no personal connection with him. He's mainly been absent or irrelevant.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he takes an early retirement. 23 and completely broken. He’s got just over a year left on his deal here and I can’t see anyone touching him after that, especially as when he has played he’s largely been terrible so won’t have convinced anyone he’d be worth the risk. Featured in just 57 games for us in almost 5 years… mental.

By a country mile, that has to have been the single worst transfer window in the history of football.

Yep I get that completely, but I can't believe it is how he would have expected his life to turn out. Just a sad story of "what could have been" and I'll wish him well all the same if it is the end....

The summer where Liverpool sold Javier Mascherano and though replacing him with Joe Cole on astronomical wages immediately springs to mind as a worse one

Also two summers of Todd Bollo demonstrating he's never played Football Manager

Oh, and Bradford bankrupting themselves

And Leicester being so hamstrung by FFP they sold their keeper yet couldn't replace him

Sessegnon managed 35mins for the U21s before going off injured <doh>

The lad is broken.
According to Alasdair Gold it wasn't the hamstring he's had issues with that went, which does borderline on being tragic that he had corrective surgery hoping to finally conquer the longstanding hamstring issue he's had - and the other one goes the first time he gets on the pitch after surgery

Aaaannnd Sessegnon’s had another surgery, this time on his other hamstring.

Have to feel so, so sad for him. As others have said I wouldn’t be surprised if we never see him play again, certainly not for Spurs. Frustrating as hell for us as supporters but imagine how he must feel. Had the world at his feet when he was a kid and now it’s probably gone.

He'll be well into the final year of his contract by the time he returns.

The club should just release him in the summer and let him try to rebuild his career elsewhere.

His injuries have probably prevented his departure for a solid year as it is and I doubt there’ll be any mutual termination of his deal, we’ll just be stuck with him til 2025. It’s hard to even say if he’ll be able to rebuild his career too, realistically who’s gonna touch him? At best he might get a pay as you play offer from maybe a Championship/ League One side but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see an early retirement. Bloke’s body is already a mess at 23 and that’s on top of currently 5 years (likely 6) of awful performances in between these injuries.
