So much progress over last two years TM had us playing great stuff but eventually we hit a bit of a wall needed to move up a level. Instead we got Beale massive mistake club needs to get back on track KLD needs to show some leadership. Our momentum has stalled Opportunity for a real reset to move the club up a level keep the model and philosophy but perhaps Speakman needs to go as well new ideas and a manager with a bit of a proven record the fans can get behind that can move these young lads up a level a proper reboot
Worth reminding that Will Stills contract at Reims allows him to leave in the summer. And if we had been in talks with him that may well come into thinking re: caretaker til summer
It's a major screw up like. Go back to the assistant , background coach after appointing a universally hated figure then rid in 12 games.
It makes sense now. After this Beale bullshit. But would we have accepted this after tone got peddled? As myself and others have said, Beale has been a complete waste of time. It’s a disgrace.
yeh but the major screw up was 63 days ago. This is admission of that. But persisting with Beale wouldn’t have made it right. Today is a good decision (for me), whoever made it
I'd rather the club acted, than didn't. They can admit their mistakes and look foolish, but it's better than ignoring the elephant in the room.
He's done canny well. And although not totally proven, a wildcard is more appealing than the drivel that Beale always represented.
Think he was quite well respected in the game until we chewed him up and spat him out. I didn't want him at the time, I'm not sad he's gone and it clearly hasn't worked out but I still don't think it was the terrible appointment people are making it out to be. We ran him out of the club before he really had a chance to show whether he was a decent coach or the waste of space you say he is.
Been happy with the work Speakman has done in general but this is a really bad moment for him following a pretty poor summer window (so far anyways). We were in a decent place with a few tweaks needed, to sack Mowbray was harsh (can still understand why he was) but to just replace him with Beale who had minimal credentials to be offered the head coach job here was bizarre and massively underwhelming. For it to go this wrong and for Dodds to reportedly end up being made interim head coach with about a third of the season left is really poor. I think he's lost a lot of credit he had in the bank, we've known KLD to be ruthless, will he be with Speakman?
Time to draw a line under this and start looking forward ... ... absolutely no point in covering the same ground ad infinitum.
I think Speakman maybe gets one more chance. Neil and Mowbray were good appointments (if indeed Neil was approached by us) so he has some credit in the bank
