I really hope I’m wrong here but I think if Hemir starts he’ll do no better. This is a recruitment issue. Last year we got Amad on loan, this year we got Burstow.
I thought we started a bit sloppy with Hume putting the ball out of play 3 times in quick succession but we soon took control in the first half and played some decent football. Mundle looked good and put in a few decent crosses and was unlucky not to score. The away support was fantastic as usual and we hardly heard anything from the Brum fans until they scored. Second half Birmingham really came at us and we backed off. However once they got the equaliser their fans got them going. It's fine margins but if Burstow's goal had stood then it could have changed the game. The winning goal was another of those lucky deflections that just sit nicely for someone to tap in. I didn't even notice that Beale had 'blanked' Hume at the game and only found out about it on here. I've seen us play worse and win but it's always painful to lose a game. I did stay to clap the lads off at the end though - as that's what supporters do. Beale's stats are all on a downward trajectory and it's not looking good
I don't see where he's getting hounded out tbh. Ok there is some restlessness amongst a portion of fans but he's not getting hounded at games. We're a big club that is underachieving and looking like we've took a step back from last season. I'm not blaming Beale but if he can't take a bit of criticism then he's really not cut out for the limelight and needs to go back to assistant coach. All this is conjecture of course and he may be up for the fight. I hope he is and does well for us. I don't dislike the bloke, I don't know him (apart from reminds me of Danny Dyer the kernt ) He's here now and personally I'll wait to see how he pans out.
I will support every appointment we make. Some will say too much. I have an insight into what coaches do and it is tough. They deserve a lot more credit than they usually get, always the ones to be the fall guy. Beale has far more going for him as a head coach than people give him credit for, but he has to show that in performances. The last 2 games have been woeful however. I think he has got player selection wrong. I am not going to start shouting for his head though. If the club want to let him go, no problem, that is their decision. I would argue though they dont seem great at appointing head coaches. The faff on to arrive at Beale was just daft, same when we played footsie with Keane. I have been saying for a while the squad isnt good enough for top 6 this season. I am sure that is why Mowbray was moaning, he knew they had given him a duff hand yet demanded the play offs. I feel sorry for Beale because of the way he has been treated by some fans from day 1. But when you look at results then he is no better than Mowbray, so if the target remains then you would assume he is on very thin ice. As I keep saying though, I dont see a queue of candidates for the gig, unless the leaders want to spend and allow a backroom team to come along too.
No thanks. I missed the game thankfully was was out with friends. Just seeing the scoreline was enough for me
Now that all the furore has subsided looking back at the Hume substitution i do not believe Beale did not see Hume. having said that if this had happened in a win for us it wouldnt have had the impact it has had. But i do recall prem players being subbed and blanked by the manager so this is by no means a first. I would rather Beale had ( if applicable ) come out later and said something like " i wasnt happy with the lad and didnt want to say something i would have later regreted " Its now time for the pair to forgive and forget and move on. Otherwise things may turn really nasty. ps having seen their winning goal a couple of times when Hume commits the foul and walks away with his back on it, he is not the only one with his back to where the incident took place o9 is also walking away doing the same thing. very unprofessional by the two of them.
i think the squad is missing a 'bally' type player, onien is a great lad and i can see him cheering the lads up when needed but i don't see him having that 'get out there and fight for your lives' voice, obviously not those words but you know what i mean. i genuinely hope that beale can get the lads together and give them a needed boot up the backside and turn things round, it is easy to blame the coach but a few have noted that ekwah/jobe are pretty much 'wandering around' rather than 'putting' themselves around, they are both big enough lads and both have the talent to impose themselves on games and help control them. last word from me about the hume incident, normally it would most likely have not been given a second look but beale needs to be more or less faultless when a game is on, he has not had the best of starts and needs to win the fans over...he can chuck hairdryers, handbags or whatever he wants around the dressing room but on field respect has to go both ways.
Their winning goal is awful. Not on a coach that, he will be going mad at them and rightly so. You dont wander away from a free kick there, you stand on it to prevent the quick play and let your team organise. You walk away facing the ball when you do. If you do make the schoolboy error of turning your back and it is played beyond you for a quick one then sprint to get back in, dont keep walking. Nothing a coach can do about players making such awful decisions really. Not that it excuses the overall performance, but losing to a goal like that is poor from the players.
Their second goal came from us not concentrating. That’s on the players. Their first we were also a bit soft on the player who turned us - our midfield is defensively piss poor - we did well mind in keeping it out, it just kept landing nicely for them.
Watch the second goal, Hume is piss poor. Gives away the foul, turns his back and continues just walking back when the ball has been played beyond him. Doesn’t really make much of an attempt to get back.
For his decision not to square the ball to Clark he’d be warming the bench at best Saturday hopefully seelt and O9 gel in Ballards absence and we can dust ourselves off and go again Saturday
It's all going wrong no energy no swashbuckling football either the manager has sucked the life out of the boys or the players won't play for Beale
He should have his boots taken from him...He is just Another of the hundreds of young players Chelsea hoover up and loan out hoping one or two come good. to pay for the Chelsea running costs.
Yes ,very annoying, basic schoolboy error, you never take your eye off the ball, simple as that , mind Onien was doing the same
