Is it me, or do we look defensively worse off with the two defensive FBs on today? If there’s one thing I’d have expected it was to have been a bit more sound on the back foot, yet Wolves have got in just as many, if not more times that teams would if we had the two attack minded FBs. And so considering we’re not being as fluid in possession without the other two, it’s mad we’re (still) looking poor from a defensive viewpoint.
There's a thin dividing line between playing pressing football and playing like 8 years olds all chasing the ball. We are closer to the latter today ..
And I’ve just clocked, Timo “can’t hit a barn door” Werner is playing through the middle instead of coming at the wing and moving Son - our best finisher - central. Can’t make sense of that.
I think he’s got the potential to be really good for us but there’s no doubt some weaknesses in his management. I think the club needs to help him out though with improvements personnel wise, a better squad to work with and any managerial weaknesses can be minimised. Case in point, Emerson dropped another 4/10 performance today, we’ve gotta get rid of these types of players coming into the side, the drop between first XI and squad is too big at the moment. I’ve always had huge respect for Ben Davies too but he’s just not an Ange player, it’s as simple as that.
