They really are a bit of a bogey team to us. I was there a couple of years ago where they scored 2 in the first 20 mins or something like that and we never looked like we would ever get back in the game. This is one of those games with them scoring around the 70th minute and us huffing and puffing with the odd half chance but ultimately losing the game written all over it! Nice cheery post!
Unfortunately that's a tactic that has worked or nearly worked against us at home several times recently... Villa, Burnley, Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton all did similar... Looks like another learning curve for the team!
Taylor could have booked Hones 3 times over by now - but Davies lucky not to get a card too. From what I have seen, my hopes of Kulu picking his game up don't seem to have been met
Wolves deserve the lead. They’re playing us like a fiddle and there’s not a single Spurs player having a good game. Another Ange rocket needed at half time.
We have reverted to the Conte like first half performances recently. Let’s hope we can turn it round like we did against Brighton. At the moment sounds like they are all over us. 0 shots on target
Nothing to shout about in that half. Wolves playing the frustration game to perfection and creating far better opportunities on the counter. Ange will need to get more out of them in the 2nd if we are going to turn this around again, theres a pattern emerging here but this week Wolves look better organised than Brentford and Brighton were and as such I think another turnaround is unlikely.
Said it a month or two back but our football really has dropped off a cliff in comparison to the first few months. It’s not Conte bad (mind you, that first half was tragic) but the entertaining style of football really hasn’t been on show much, few flashes here and there and that’s about it. Think Ange needs to both have a word at HT but also look at making some changes on about 50-55 if we don’t come out the blocks in the second. Not sure who I think needs to go/ come on but something just needs to change.
I was just wondering if there’ll be any halftime changes. Maybe Son through the middle and another winger? Emerson in particular is a problem but we don’t have many options there unless he does something strange like play Romero or Sarr there, bringing Dragusin or a midfielder on (or a winger and move Kulu inside).
I’d be temped to go three at the back. Take off Davies or royal and put Bentancur as another body in midfield. Allow Maddison to have more free rein to try and create opportunities. Could end in tears but better to mix it up than carry on like this for another 45 minutes.
Yeah I really don’t know the answer at the moment. Bentancur is the only player capable of changing the game but I don’t think the midfielders have been that bad, it’s the defence (minus Micky) and forwards not cutting it.
The issue of late is that it takes HT to rectify the questions the opposition are asking. Not being worse than 1-0 down at HT helps, but you feel that may not be the case soon.
