Over the years this bloody team give us some lows but wow, we get some great times too. A real buzz around the club at the moment. Loving it
I thought that the Referee did a fair job, not sure about Jacks penalty shout, seen them given, but he can't give what he didn't see perhaps? A bit harsh with Smallbones yellow, I've not seen a replay yet, but other than that, he kept the game flowing. The Corberan sending off was not really avoidable just daft!
Last ten to fifteen minutes of the first half had me concerned that we were shrinking from the game - back and sideways passing with stray passes allowing WBA to break. However, I thought the much improved mental fortitude of the squad was on display after that, even more impressive after the City loss - as someone else pointed out, fantastic game management to keep WBA out and secure a magnificent three points. Favourite moment was Stuey's lung-busting run back to our own box to slide in and block a cross. Other plaudits go to Mara who I thought was lively, up for it and so much stronger than he looks, and Aribo who was a man mountain when he came on. Fantastic team effort.
I think he's saved us more points than lost. Says a lot about the way Russ and the team around him have worked with this increasingly amazing group of players.
It's nice to have the game done and such a top result, let's see what the mighty Plymouth can do in a bit. I'm off to watch my local team (Laverstock and ford) play in the rain and mud later, are there any others of us that turn up for proper grass roots football? The cheap pints make it easier to enjoy the day after watching saints boss WBA.
Yeah i'll be popping along to Portsmouth Road to watch Sholing take on the league leaders, Chesham this affo.
The more that Russell is interviewed the more i'm impressed with him, never publically blames the players or an individual and owns responsibility, so different to a certain Welshman we know...
The wee man's interview on Saints video, had a great quote from him 'it's like 14 more cup ties to go'. Ryan you've hit it on the head! He has to be one of our best loan players for a long time?
May have mentioned this before but I was brought up in Netley and used to watch Netley Sports, later, Central Sports, Sholing’s local rivals
I watch Dorchester and Weymouth when I’m not at a Saints game Non league games at Basingstoke in the 80s got me back to Saints in the 90s
The Saints Manager I most like listening to since WGS WGS was pure entertainment every time BRM (Big RM) is different but I don't recall any previous Manager 'Loving" the players and I love that he wants them to play the way he would have wanted to play and the football he wants to watch
A really good friend of mine (He used to come to see Saints for about 12 years with my mate - he was his foster child) is the Weymouth Goalie He is using my ST on Tuesday to go to St Mary's as I can't make it. Huge Saints fain and really good goalkeeper.
