No I thought the dig was aimed at me! I agree with you. I thought he was very unfairly made a scapegoat for last season's disaster. But he's flourished under Martin.
Useful that Bednarek again avoided his 10th yellow (I still don't know how he didn't get it vs Bristol City). On the basis that I'm not confident of him getting through five more matches (until the 10th yellow bar is removed), I'd accept him getting booked in the next game vs Hull.
Good performance, helped by a real lack of pace in West Brom’s forward line. We always look susceptible on the break but, unlike Bristol City, they didn’t have any pace to put the ball in behind us
Sorry about mix up. My reply was badly worded. Goalies are always a sitting target for critics. If they are part of a secure defence they gain confidence and play better. Like Fraser Forster played well behind a well organised defence.
So, so impressed tonight. Okay, so not our best performance ever, but that was a real "stick to the process" game, and they came through with flying colours. Stu MOTM, but shout outs to Bednarek, who was excellent again and marshalled the back line, Aribo who looked superb when he came on, and even to Jack, playing in an unfamiliar position - I don't think he was worse than Manning, put it that way. On that front, we don't lose anything much now having Mara instead of Che. If he keeps improving as he has been, then we'll gain with him leading the line. Delighted for Brooks to get his first goal too. Credit to RM, the staff and the players for refocusing and getting over the line in what could have been a really, really tough fixture. And thanks to the Baggies for taking off their three most potent attackers too.
That was a lovely post match interview from Russ in the sky box. 10/10 performance on and off the pitch.
Maybe, but I just think he’s better in the right than in the centre He was in the centre wasn’t he? We were watching on my phone so I might be wrong
