I think if there was ever a time to be optimistic and confident as a Spurs fan then this is the season. The midfield you have is awesome and Adebayor has given you a better spearhead imo up front for attack than Crouch/Defoe/Keane. The biggest challenge that you will have in my opinion is keeping your team together as Modric has already attracted suitors and Adebayor being a loan signing. But with your teams current form i wouldn't take being upbeat away from you
The problem you're having Luke is distinguishing being upbeat, and being overexcited...where's the line? Pardon me for reminding you, but the next level for all the other 5 clubs around you (I'm excluding Toon for obvious reasons!) IS to rub shoulders with you lot, even if its briefly. So, feeling as upbeat as I do...just what am I to talk about in terms of aspiration thats suitable to you...thats if you can hear me up there on that horse.
I with you HIAG. 2nd place is now the target. Come on you Spurs! ...but I can't help thinking our form cannot last forever. The first two games weren't our blip in the season. And everyone knows if you want to troll another board, you have to create multiple accounts
If you're going to selectively edit what people say at least make a good job of it. You are priceless: Totally lacking self-awareness. That's quite a talent. Are you 6 or just ******ed?
Nothing wrong with aiming high. 3rd place, game in hand, playing well, confidence is high, not far from a fully fit squad = Good times! We may not have the recent success/ history/ form etc as some of the clubs we're competing against which makes us underdogs in a way, but history and past glories count for nothing in this season. It's a straight up fight for places and so far we're fighting pretty well. Over recent seasons stranger things have happened throughout football - couple of years back Stuttgart won the Bundesliga beating the likes of Bayern/ Dortmund/ Leverkusen/ Bremen. Lille won Ligue 1 last year which Lyon/ Marseille/ Bordeaux are usually favourites for. It's about time the EPL has a few surprises! COYS!
Clearly we are ready to stand shoulder to shoulder. We are already doing it (win the game in hand and its 1pt diff). Its whether we can maintain it. However, after the last few weeks i think the Utd fans should be asking the same thing. Past success is no guarantee of future success
And yours is not a childish reply? I really don't need the likes of you to patronise me. If you have nothing good to say, choose to say nothing. Otherwise, you cannot blame me for having a pop back
The simple fact is that showing ambition is an offence in the Premier League. All titles, money and players should go to one of the two clubs Sky dictate will contest the league that particular season (Man Utd vs. Arsenal, Man Utd vs. Chelsea, Man Utd vs. Man City) and everyone else is there to make up the numbers/points totals/goal difference.
Which is just one of the reasons why I will make absolutely no apologies for openly expressing confidence in Spurs' chances this season. What is it with you Spurs fans who attempt to shout-down us fans who think this team can win great things this season? What is this unwritten rule that says we cannot be optimistic? What right do you have to think that I am somehow of low intelligence, a so-called "wum" or an agent provocateur for daring to believe that this is the year we'll exceed all expectations. You are the stupid ones, you are the ones who have this medieval belief in the supernatural, that by merely believing good things will happen that will somehow jinx our chances. Pathetic! Get off my case! You believe what you want to believe, but please don't slag me off for having more faith than you in this Spurs side
Nobody's even suggest any of that HIAG, but you're clearly trolling other boards. How many have you been banned from now? If someone's wife is ugly, then telling the man that isn't honest, it's rude.
I feel sorry for the Southern England Man U pot hunters.Must cost them a bomb, all that travelling. Now City have started to win a game or two,I suppose those same pot hunters will be "supporting" them too!
This from somebody who's managed to put nearly every nose on Not606 out of joint! All you are is an attention seeker pal. Your optimism isn't backed by any actual arguments. If YOU chose your words more carefully, you wouldn't even have to write this thread. We are all happy with the way things are going and we all hope for good things this year. Newsflash: Nobody who supports our rival teams is going to give us a shred of credit or is remotely interested in our well-founded optimism. What amazes me is that you are surprised when they tell you to do one. Get over yourself.
I've got to agree with this. While our form has been excellent, it is way too early in the season to be thinking about winning the league....however if we are in the same position after February (we have a tough fixture list that month!), then I will put some champers in the fridge to cool, but until then I'm just gonna enjoy the ride!! Spurs have always guaranteed a heck of a roller-coaster ride each season....let's see what this one brings!!
Our recent run of form won't last all season, because it never has for anyone. We've won eight and drawn one of our last 9, so that'd mean 3 draws and 24 wins for the remaining games. A nice, round 100 points. Not very likely, is it?
"Beat the dross and hope you can play well at City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool as well as Utd and Chelsea at home." Actually we don't have to hope on any of those fronts. Last yr showed that. And even we when lost (Citeh) , we still play them off the park. "It may be the case that your results against the big teams are decisive this season rather rather than slipping up too often against the lesser ones." Actually IMHO it will be the case that the improvement against the latter will render the former less relevant. That, in addition to the fact everyone knows we can step up against the latter, is what is driving much of the fear. A fear that is well-founded this season.
Would like to break our Man United hoodoo at long last this season, on current form they're there for the taking, as long as Webb isn't allowed anywhere near the pitch.
