It's been an interesting read catching up with all this on here. My view is... 1. Having a poster in my window/car etc. or a Palestinian flag with free Palestine on it on display is not anti semitic. 2. Saying I believe in a free Palestine in a discussion is not anti semitic. 3. Me boycotting Israeli products is not anti semitic...I happily buy Bagels for examples and things from Jewish owned businesses ... just not anything from Israel. However, going up to a Jewish person and shouting or even saying free Palestine to them is anti semitic. Blaming Jewish people for the acts of the Israeli government is anti semitic to me. Waving a Palestinian flags of free Palestine flags at Jewish people is anti semitic. Late last October (after the horrific terrorist attack on Israeli civilians) I walked to Spurs from my house in SE London. I went through Stamford Hill which has a large Jewish community. It wasn't half term there so the schools were open and every Jewish school and nursery I walked past had security guards as parents collected their kids and kids getting on private coaches to take them home. It was awful to see. And it is outrageous that some people use the terms Israeli and Jewish and Zionist interchangeably as though they are the same thing. That is anti semitic to me. I also think it's outrageous to accuse people who think Israel is wrong and who go on the anti war marches of being anti semitic. I find it weird that the Tory and Labour MPs who are saying that having a Palestinian flag on display is anti semitic also argue that those displaying England flag or Union Jacks aren't racist. They want it both ways which is bollocks to me. It's not the act of displaying a flag that makes it offensive...its the reason behind it. It I am displaying a free Palestine poster/Palestinian flag to intimidate a Jewish neighbour then I am anti semitic...if a person displays an England flag to intimidate a non white or immigrant neighbour then they are being racist. Context is everything but unfortunately, just like with most things, our politicians are interested in anything but their own agenda so honest debate, potential solutions and truth can all go **** themselves. Sorry for such a long post
Some extremists have been videoed shouting free Palestine in the faces of Orthodox Jewish people and calling them murderers ... some of the racist scum doing it have claimed to be Muslim and some white. ****ing grim stuff tbh
What about Arsenal fans singing “we’ll be running around Tottenham with our willies hanging out, singing I’ve got foreskin, Jewish ****s” Is that antisemitism, mate? If so, do you think this is why @PINKIE holds such strong anti-Jewish feelings?
Well said I think people miss / intentionally disregard the nuance with these issues. Being able to express the sentiment 'Free Palestine' or even graffiti on a wall that says 'Free Palestine' isn't Anti-Semitic. The same Graffiti on the walls of a Synagogue is. For the record, I also don't think Spurs fans chanting Yiddo is anti-semitic either, although there are a sizeable amount of Jewish people who have a problem with it
They do sing it though. They were singing it when I was in their end against Newcastle one night with my Goon mate. Piskie was probably there… leading the chanting… maybe.
I find it odd the amount of anti jewish chants that Arsenal fans aim at Spurs fans, as there's as many Jews in Islington as there are in Haringey Although I have to say, I think a lot of that ****e doesn't happen anymore. Thankfully the game has moved on from those old days, for the most part
In fairness to Ponks, he only sings... "I've got more Foreskin than willy... " to the tune of "More Questions Than Answers..." ... the Spurs fans seem to quite like it tbf
Which was my point all along, if you are doing something to intentionally offend people then yes you are in the wrong, Pinkie is happy to make a point about free Palestine because of the strong views he holds against Israel, so like you say context is everything, so I can't really make it any more plain even if as he claims it's not being anti semitic, he at the very bare minimum is being a dick to make a point about his prejudices, it's plain for anyone to see that has read this thread, unless they've got their Stevie Wonder glasses on.
Also, as I was attempting to explain to brb earlier.... that both you and me were there during riots/protests in South London when the BNP were kicking off. So we both have first hand experience of what it's like living in an area where racial hatred and how that **** permeates through everyday life. Even being white, you were still a target having black and Asian friends. 'Paki lover' and all of that ****. At least people like you and me tried to do something about it by standing up and being counted and going and and calling out these racist ****s. The old bill cracked heads regardless and that day in Welling when it all kicked off was a flash point of years of nothing being done about the BNP presence around there.
Ponks does lead the chanting sometimes... but it's pretty obvious coz there's a bit of a theme... his particular favourites appear to be... Help Me Rondon Wouldn't It Be Rice Round, Round, Get Around, Me Get A Round In? Odegaard Only Knows... and the rather worrying... Good Vibrators...
You're so full of shhite, and no this is not Kwasi ffs, another racial blunder when your mask slipped... please log in to view this image
What has this got to do with anything, this is clearly you just pulling in the old pals act from 50 years ago, to cover for what you've turned into since moving to Cornwall. In fact doubt you were even born at the height of racism in London but suppose somehow it makes you look cool picking up the tail end of something when you were 10 years old, jeez you don't half make up some shhite.
