That's my biggest concern regarding Saturday. I can see him putting 2 on Clarke and maybe man marking Neil to take our 2 best playmakers out of the game. The coaching staff need to think outside of the box and spring a surprise - maybe give Rigg a start. Bellingham and Ekwah looked like they were running in treacle last night, maybe some urgency in midfield can give us a foothold to start attacks
There was space, down the right hand side but we played narrow that side for god knows whatever reason. World class coaching apparently.
Lad at work is a Newcastle fan, watched the game last night and said he forgot Jobe was even on the pitch, also we looked much worse when Dan Neil went off. I’m still reserving judgement on Beale but seen nothing so far to show we have improved tactically. His decent results were purely down to luck and bad finishing from the opposition.
Not a great night last night at all. I said in the immediate aftermath players need to want to win. Huddersfield wanted it more in my opinion. We dont have the players to get by without a huge desire and commitment sadly. They have to be all in. Too many last night looked off the pace. It was a worrying performance in my opinion. Another away game slips by. I wonder how much of last night was mental fatigue. It would be interesting to know how well we do in midweek games after a weekend one. Physical recovery is a well known discipline, mental recovery less so. Do we have a sports psychology team does anyone know?
I don’t get why we are so unbalanced, it makes it so much easier for opposition to double up on Clarke when they aren’t having to cover the other wing. Baffling.
Add to the fact that Huddersfield flooded the middle of the park with their formation. No wonder we couldn't get a foothold on the game
Now tell me that it wasn't a tactical issue. We looked lop sided and totally off it. It was absolutely tactical and it led to players being uncertain. This always brings a drop in intensity. Add them both together you get last night's feeble attempt.
That's hard to disagree with. If this was a tactical decision, what was the intention? Hume sliding inside to beef up the midfield, I can see why this might be a tactic to stop teams playing through the middle. Not that I agree with it. Lack of RW though... ? Edit - I suppose that the poor average positions are partly down to Huddersfield pushing us back and our attacking game not getting going as much as usual. Push Ekwah and Jobe forward a bit where we'd like them to be on the ball, then Rusyn or Ba out a bit wider which you've got to think was the intention - then it doesn't look terrible.
Tactics don't result in most of the players being seriously off their game, failing to make passes, half hearted challenges, not showing the energy they've shown on most previous occasions. That's the worst display I've seen in a long time, it wasn't a case of the opposition running us ragged, as in the second half of the Middlesboro game, it was a lack of effort. O'nien and Ballard excluded, I've never seen O'nien so angry at other players for not pulling their weight.
Mate our wide players and some if not the best in the league, and have ripped into fullbacks all season. Playing like this kills our best talent and that's why they had poor games last night. Wasnt enough room, was too congested and no enough space to play and run into.
Not even close to what happened although, tbf, I was instantly banned. Unlike your pal I learned my lesson, took the warning of a permanent ban and put him on ignore. You were on here calling someone a *****phile yet here you are ... ... evidently, all depends on who you fall out with.
The problem with the image on its own like that is that it only shows our average positions, so there's no context to understand it in. Its easy to say "well clearly we were unbalanced so that's why we lost" but without comparing it to the average positions of the opposition, it doesn't mean a lot. For instance, were Huddersfield deliberately trying to force our right flank inside? Was there a gap or weakness we were trying to exploit, so brought the right flank narrow?
I never called anybody that. I just pointed out someone putting up pictures of girls who looked very young. Anyway, let’s not clog the board up with this any further. I wish you a good day.
