Just like all the other completely independent republics which made up the Soviet Union.

... suspect there is also some selective interpretation there on what constitutes 'anti-semitism' ... after all ... emotive headlines sell papers ...

With the exception of some more extreme 'Palestinian' supporters, the vast majority of people in this country (and throughout the world) would have been horrified and appalled by the events of October 7th ...and would have felt enormous sympathy for the Israeli families (and others) impacted by what Hamas did ...

... but what the State of Israel has done since will certainly have impacted that sympathy and empathy ... not towards those induvidual families (I hope), but certainly towards the Israeli state and its' warmongers ... there can never be any real justification for the deaths of over 20,000 women and children (more of them being children) and it certainly isn't going to make Israel a safer place for Israelis in the longer term ...

So is the current change of mood in this country (and the world) really a growth of anti-semitism? ... an irrational hatred of anyone Jewish? ... or is it fundamentally a reaction to the attempted ethnic cleansing of Gaza, seemingly without restraint or accountability?

I know what I think ... but it's just one opinion...

Some of the incidents of 'anti-semitism' compiled by the CST, who have supplied this info to the media, include posters of Israeli hostages being torn off of a phone box and 'Free Palestine' graffiti on a bridge in North London.

No matter how much Netanhayu and the puppets who prop him up have kyboshed the idea of a two state solution, that should be what everybody is working towards here, no matter how far away that seems at the moment. Otherwise there will never be peace in the area.

Obviously it will require new politicians in place who aren't murderous bastards.

You might even get a chance to have a go down my water flume

    I've read the CST report

It cites Anti-Semitic incidents as everything from stickers on buses, placards at demos, graffiti on walls, online abuse, in person verbal abuse etc

To give an example 'a vehicle drove past a synagogue in Hertfordshire with a Palestinian flag attached, windows wound down and an occupant shaking their fist in the air towards the synagogue'

There's even a report for an 'anti-semitic' leaflet that is for a Halal cat food..... make of that what you will.

Notwithstanding the actual physical assaults (58 out of the 4061 incidents reported) which, include things like spitting, throwing stones, as well as punches and kicks, and should be dealt with appropriately by the law, I can't help but feel that some of these other incidents don't really paint a picture of an 'explosion of hatred' as the media have portrayed, as much of it can also be interpreted at Anti-Israeli or Pro-Palestinian instead of Anti-Semitic

Also, raw numbers can be used to portray a picture that isn't always accurate. The CST cite a 150% increase in anti-semitic incidents from 2022
But the actual number of incidents of extreme violence have dropped from 1 in 2022 to 0 in 2023, which is a 100% decrease ......

Anyway, the report is here if anybody wants to read it

The 'other' incidents incur anyone of the following feelings when walking the streets of UK, dread, scared, fear, thoughts of what might happen and how do I protect myself from it. I certainly wouldn't want to be Jew in this country at the moment, especially in any areas that display a Palestinian flag or where marches take place. Muslims may have had the same fear in this country, after past terror attacks, we all have fears, like old people going out after dark and all the complexities of graffiti, banners, torn posters add to those fears. The only reason you fail to comprehend it is because it's not your fear.

I agree with what you're saying, apart from the last sentence. Nobody should feel fear whilst walking the streets, whether that's because of religion, ethnicity, colour, age, sexual orientation etc. I'm just questioning whether the CST's claim that all of these incidents are anti-semitic are accurate. I would say that graffiti that says 'Free Palestine' is Pro Palestine rather than anti-semitic.
