Yeah definitely mate (our run coming to an end). You've got a really good run of games until you play us so it's now or never to get back into form. Two winnable home games next week if you can beat Swansea too.
I've not seen any tbh though I didn't read through the match thread from last night. Magic is just being magic lol.
Nah I’ve always thought Leeds would finish ahead of us, they’re just better imo. Have managed to get a bet on with one of my mates who has looked at the fixtures and he thinks they’ll win every game til the end of the season now. They could do, but they won’t as there will be a game like we had last night where they just don’t perform and draw/lose
2nd is still a 3 way race. It could be anyone of us, Leeds and Ipswich. Us and Leeds have the edge over Ipswich for me because of the quality and depth of our squads. And Leeds have been relentless since the start of the year but the winning run has to stop sometime. Can't call it between us and Leeds right now.
Either way it's gonna be exciting. We'll either have a brilliant run to get automatic or we'll get a Wembley final. Can't really lose. Except for having to play in the Prem next year if we go up.
Yeah he is an idiot. Is more bipolar than Tom/Os when it comes to football and over reacting based on a performance or two either way. Currently he thinks they would finish top 10 in the PL with their current team because they beat Rotherham or something
I think it all depends on how we end up in the playoffs (if we do end up in then). If we lose to Leeds final day and that is what means we come 3rd then I can see us losing the semi against whoever is 6th as I think you play the two legs inside a week of the final day. Can imagine it being hard to get the players to bounce back from the disappointment of missing out so quickly, and whoever finishes 6th will probably be buzzing as that looks a very close race aswell. If it’s confirmed we are in the playoffs a game or two before the end of the season then can see us doing well in them
Our performance at wba is as important as the result for me. Another show like at Bristol and first half against Huddersfield and it might be too difficult to turn around in the games left. Ipswich should be looking to win the next 8 on the spin before their next, on paper, tough game which is Saints. Leeds run, with the exception of Leicester, is almost as easy, on paper, as Ipswich. As someone said yesterday, probably best to know we won’t make automatic places before the last week or so, so we can rest key players for the play offs.
Nah I don't agree. We should have more than enough to beat whoever finishes 6th over two legs imo. West Brom would be harder if we finished 4th but I don't see that personally and I'd still fancy us. I think it'll be extremely close pretty much all the way now. Easter could prove decisive.
Don't agree here either. We've been brilliant for months and just as that didn't secure promotion a 4/5 game wobble doesn't write it off either. Can definitely seeing us looking poor for a couple more weeks and then being brilliant for the run in. Results more important than performances at this point. I'd rather look a bit lethargic again on Friday and get a point undeservedly than play really well and get an unlucky defeat.
Can just see a similar type performance to last night and we lose the first leg (2 days after we would lose to Leeds in my scenario) by a large margin and leave too much to do in the second leg. But whatever it’s all hypothetical at this point
Second leg would be at home so would have to be a seriously heavy defeat to write us off entirely. It also wouldn't be 2 days after as the clubs have to sort tickets and security arrangements etc. First leg be the following weekend I imagine with the second the following midweek.
They have been brilliant in all fairness... but their squad does not have the depth of either yours or Leeds (or ours) ... and in the end that will be the difference... thinks it's now a straight fight for the top 3 places and despite our lofty position I'm not taking it for granted that we will finish top ... not sure if the 3 relegated teams have all gone straight back up before ... but there is a pretty good chance that it will happen this season.
Let's not pretend Leicester will drop, you're just too damn consistent. It may not always be pretty but its damn effective.
I think we'll stay in the automatic spots, yes ... but we could still be susceptible to one of you going on a run like you've just been on, in terms of top spot ...
Whatever happens, the top two teams that go up automatically will have deserved it and the two that end up in the play-offs should be favourites to make the final. I'm completely chilled about our fate, I never imagined that we would be virtually guaranteed a top 6 place by this stage of the season and the football we have played in the last couple of months is much better than I expected too, it's been a breath of fresh air after the previous couple of dismal seasons. The fans at SMS particularly have had our money's worth for sure.
Exactly. Maybe 6 weeks ago the consensus on here was the autos were too far and we need to finish in the playoffs. Without trying to 'Tom Jinx' it, even I wouldn't bother with an insurance bet on us not making the playoffs this year. And it is only February. It's been a great season this year so far and I like football again!
