Hutchinson definitely taking this game by the scruff of the neck and making the most of his start. Wondered why Sarmiento wasn’t given the nod over Broadhead, but that was a brilliant header by Broady.
Millwall have been so poor after 10 minutes. Also, can’t believe how wide the pitch is - plays right into our hands. Very happy at 1/2 time
After that shaky start, we’ve been all over them. Thoroughly deserved lead. Playing back to our best on that evidence. Big call from McKenna to drop Chaplin, but has been fully paid off. Burgess back in the side is bringing a bit more solidity to that backline too.
Well this second half has been a non-event. No complaints though, three points were crucial today and we fully deserve the win. Good to see us back to winning ways.
The charge starts today just like last season. I think we've actually performed better in some of our recent games than we did tonight but the luck went our way and we looked more solid at the back. Not taking anything away from Edmundson because I think he's been outstanding since coming back into the side but we look so much more solid with Burgess at the back, as I've said in other threads I think we defend a bit deeper because Burgess is that bit slower and also because he's left footed he tends to pass in wide areas of the pitch more than Edmundson and if we lose the ball aren't quite so exposed. I thought Moore had a mixed game, his touch was a bit heavy at times but him simply being on the pitch changes how we play in a good way, our game is much faster, we have more options on the ball and when we run out of options near the box we can just put it in. I thought Morsy was a bit unusually sloppy on the ball as well although as always by the end of the game is just bossing it. Having a player like Moore in the team and look more solid at the back means you don't have to be perfect to win a game. Broadhead looks to have got his spark back, what a superb finish. Hopefully he can continue this moving forwards. Credit to Clarke as well who I thought had a good game and also there was a moment Woolfenden was 1 vs 1 and flashbacks of the weekend started be he clearly learnt from his mistake and positioned himself superbly allowing others to get back and help.
What an important game that was! While maybe not a top performance, we controlled the game. The few changes made a difference too. I feel it was important that our new strikers are scoring goals. Good for.their confidence, and Moore will steadily find his mojo. As others say, just him being there makes a big difference. Remember how long it took Ladapo and Hirst to get going and score a goal! Chappers gets his rest, and imo, similar starting eleven for the Swans. Tho Ali-Hamadi comes on for well deserved cameo and is rightly given the pen by Morsy. Confidence in the team, KM and team spirit will be sky high. Forget all this nonsense about KM moving, f....ng clickbait! A word for that away support- on the TV stream, it came across as magnificent, well done FM and all the girls and boys who were there! So important. And unlike the few moaners on other sites, I am glad we are chasing the top 4 down. Being hunted is worse than being the hunter in all forms of sport! We have a very exciting few weeks ahead!
