Yeh the diamond in the rough and emerging talent is exactly what I'm hoping will come from us bringing in a decent, experienced DOF, even if it's not Ashworth, but that's what he supposedly brings. You got to bear in mind once selling clubs know you have money, you won't be getting the knock down prices Brighton saw, but you'll still be getting some quality signings.
Hopefully he turns your guys down because the banter card will be used by myself until the end of our existences.
You know what the line will be then, we were never in for him, or we got someone better. Like you say you know the score lol EDIT: We've brought in Omar Berrada as CEO from Man City and the plan is to bring in Dan Ashworth as Sporting Director and Paul Mitchell as Head of Recruitment.
My 5p on Ashworth leaving. He's been er, OK for us and I honestly would not for a second consider him irreplaceable. Not surprised at all that Staveley and Darren Eales, both English, would opt for Ashworth when they came into Newcastle. So, Ratcliffe wanting him really isn't surprising for me. If they give us some money for him, that's fine for me. You can vault this ****, @Treble I am one of Ashworths biggest critics. I think he's overrated. He also had absolutely nothing to do with the Bruno signing.
FFP is the reason, I was pissed we didn't sell a 42 year old Trippier last month 12m from Munich ffs.
Trippier is still quality. I'd keep him for another season and at the same time bring in someone to take over after. It's just the squad depth imo. Tbh I don't think Ashworth on his own is the be all and end all for us, but if we get the three we're supposedly in for to lead our recruitment it's a massive step up from the cumulative inexperienced wasters we've had for the past 11 years.
