What Hamas did to everyday people was horrific. What Israel are doing to everyday people is equally as horrific on a far bigger scale, it’s as simple as that. People should be able to call both out. Implying Jewish plots in the media is very clearly anti semitic though so he had to go. It’s a mess that needs sorting though and not won’t get sorted by cosying up to Israel and America.

I totally agree with you with all of that.

Hamas are evil and better off crushed, but you can't destroy an entire country to achieve that.

Israel were justified but they appear to want vengeance now, not a solution.

And, yes, the Labour idiot was totally out of order ... shameful comments.

Unlikely we will get any of the untouchable money, but it would be nice.

Just an update from the Wellingborough by election.
We have 11 candidates, ranging from the main parties, Independents, and Nick Brick from Raving Monster Loney party.
Both Labour and Tory party have knocked on my door, and been told in no uncertainty of my feelings. Strangely, the lad from Labour was a SAFC supporter, so did apologise to him afterwards.
He said how hostile the doorstep had been.
Thursday is election day, and l will be having a beer in the polling station.

I’ll be honest mate. I also think Netanyahu is evil. That’s the issue. Like Trump, he is elected by a lot of people who need to give their heads a shake. Him v Hamas is the worst outcome for the region.

It beggars belief that MP's are still stupid enough to make these comments in a world where everything is filmed very clearly on mobile phones. No wonder the public have no trust as a whole in politicians.

I mean how hard is it to just keep things to yourself? Any comment on the conflict other than to condemn the violence as a whole, is guaranteed to upset someone.

Labour have done the right thing and I don't really have an issue with the time taken either.

Although its massively hypocritical to say the least, the Torys will be lapping things like this up as they have **** all else to go off.

The tories will make a big fuss of this and it is hypocritical of course. It is a sore that the labour party have done loads to erradicate, but every so often something like this happens and it is big news. It is hypocritical, but both sides play this game we call politics. Labour under pressure to reveal the value of a donation from HSBC (a staff secondment) but havent for a year. How often have we heard them demand the tories reveal values.

Have to challenge you on the time it took mate. On Monday morning the Labour line was he was taken in by an online conspiracy theory. That is a barmy defence surely. Once the Labour top brass heard his comments that should have been enough to press the button, in my opinion. Now of course Starmer is saying he was decisive when he was anything but. It is like when you are in Westminster you think you can say any old thing and the people will believe you.

And another one…. It seems anti-semitism in the Labour Party has just been hibernating. Hopefully Starmer continues to clamp down on it.

Labour has suspended a second parliamentary candidate after allegations that he made comments about Israel.

Former Hyndburn MP Graham Jones is also facing an investigation, the BBC understands.

It comes after Labour withdrew support for the party's candidate for the Rochdale by-election, Azhar Ali, for apparently making antisemitic remarks.

Mr Jones has been contacted for comment.

Labour had selected Mr Jones to contest his former Lancashire seat in the upcoming general election.

But, on Tuesday audio emerged allegedly of the former MP arguing that British people who fight in the Israel Defence Forces "should be locked up" and using an expletive to refer to the country.

And now some Labour think tank bloke apologies for saying they should ship people smuggler gangs to Scotland. Starmer must be pulling his hair out.

My dad used to say put your brain in gear before opening your trap lad. Politicians should heed that advice it seems.

The expected inflation rise has failed to materialise and has remained the same at 4%. Wage rises are outpacing inflation, now. Fair play.

I really have lost all respect for Israel. They forced the innocent population down to a 'safe zone' that they're now bombing. They're behaving worse that Russia, it's disgusting and fast becoming a war crime ... except there is no war.

I have not understood why the Egyptians have not oper the boarder and remover women and children from the start.
The UN should have had shelters over the boarder very early on. Just another talking shop.

I'd guess that Egypt are worried that this was the plan all along.

Drive the Palestinians out, destroy the possibility of them returning and occupy the land.

That would leave Egypt with millions of refugees that Israel would turn their back on.

If any other Middle East country had done this America would be asking us to attack them.

Women and Children, yeah. Egypt and surrounding countries are very wary of taking in Palestinian men. They’ve a history of supporting and being sympathetic towards terrorist organisations. It wasn’t long ago that Palestinian men were being smuggled into the Sinai to join groups affiliated to ISIS that were fighting against the Egyptian army. The Palestinian kids and women are the wives, sons and daughters of these fighters and the Egyptian citizens and government are suspicious of them all.

Not saying it’s right, they’re just women and children, at the end of the day.

Labour had a dreadful week yet easily won both by-elections ...

... perhaps the country going into recession was a bigger factor than some stupid comments about Israel.

While I'm on does anyone remember who started flogging off our utilitie, Thatcher?

The reform Party made a big impact, l guess most of them were Tory votes switching.
In Kingswood, if those reform votes went to the Tories, they would of won the by election. Similarly, in Wellingborough, were Labour would of had a 2k majority.
Both elections had low turn outs of 37% and 38%.

Shows me there is more apathy than big support for the big parties. The general election might be different. Time will tell.

I doubt recession or Israel had any impact tbh. Once Peter Bone's wife was stood up as the candidate to replace him that one was decided. Not to sure on the other but I think Reform had a hand in it. Not sure it is a great performance by Labour.

That is 10 by election defeats by the tories in this parliament. A record!

I was talking to a local tory stalwart last weekend and he said he thinks the tories will have the lowest vote turnout next time and as a result will have the lowest number of seats for ages. His words - we are incapable of winning because too many want to win against their colleagues. Rings true. Shambles.

Apathy is the big problem, mind you hard to blame folk when there is so little on offer.

In my constituency Labour have declared a non battleground. In other words they arent going to be campaigning too hard. The tory majority isnt as strong as it once was. Not sure who else will have a go. We have an outgoing Tory MP (who has actually been good for the community) so we are ripe for change you would think. As I said before it will be a low turnout here so it could end up being a complete surprise and we turn Lib Dem. Certainly where my vote is going as it stands. I am not the only planning on that either.

I have a suspicion about Labours motives for this area, hence they would be comfortable not having a sitting MP. Hope I am wrong but I am a quite apprehensive. I was called a nimby for it in the pub a while back <laugh>
