I thought we played well overall, much more positive from the off, and but for (another) worldy by their excellent keeper it could have been comfortable. I was swearing at Allsop for their goal, but the replay clearly showed a huge deflection off Greaves. MotM for me was Giles with Allsop not far behind. Hope Philogene is eventually credited with the goal because it was an individual bit of brilliance in a game where before that he’d dillied and dallied too much for me. It looked like it was on target.
There's levels to it. I don't take note of what specific members say, but Ohio hasn't played a total of 45 minutes yet for us. Some (I don't recall who) wrote him him off after a (admitttedly awkward looking) 17 minutes. It makes more sense after the player has had a proper chance to prove himself. But the not606 drama I'm happy to stay out of, so here's something more uplifting, that'll be me for the night
No doubt Syd’s interpretation of this 3-1 win for Bristol City will be that Southampton have a **** keeper and Bristol City a good one. And Bristol have better players. Ohio is absolutely lightning. Really think he’ll be a threat with the right balls. Does need to work on his back to goal stuff but he is only 20/21.
Ah ok thought you meant i had replied because people had said he was, i was just remarking i did not care if he was poor as he scored the winner for us.
There was definitely some who went too far in their criticism of his first appearance. Not saying you were one of them, but it was definitely on here that he was useless.
Yes. I thought Carvalho was indifferent again and would have swapped him for Omur. Mind you, Tufan made a big difference when he came on.
Carvalho wasn’t influential but he won the ball back an awful lot and played clever passes in good areas to get us forward. Probably not the right game for him, but wouldn’t surprise me if there is playing a time assurances there
As our first goal goes in and all the players rush to philogene who is the one player that doesn’t….. Coyle… he runs over to grab the ball and get the game restarted as quick as possible… that there is a good player and cracking captain to boot…..
Definitely coylie…. The way he runs and came from the right hand side…. Just looked again, it is coyle that runs to retrieve the ball but there was two other players there at the same time so might have been someone else….
Nutmeg, Rabona, goal! Villa loanee Philogene with stunning trick for Hull Sky Sports (Video). They really are looking for more ways to deduct us more points now we have more than 5 loanees in a match day squad .
Rotherham manager Leam Richardson told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I'm disappointed with the result. The work ethic was excellent in terms of how we started the game. We had a mad five to 10 minutes in the second half that cost us. "Fine margins really affected us. In my opinion, the Championship is as good as it's been for 20-plus years. We know where we are at, we know how we want to build and sustain at this level. "I knew what I was walking into. That's a work in progress. People could have shied away from this challenge but that's not my make-up. (In a Steve Bruce accent)..."We will dust ourselves off. We will work hard. We need to make a fist of it, and in the final 15 games we need to give a very strong account of ourselves." Hull boss Liam Rosenior told BBC Radio Humberside: "It didn't start great, but I was really proud of the players. When you have a difficult game and go down to a deflected shot away from home, you can think it's not your day. "But we kept going, we kept knocking on the door, we moved them from side to side, they got tired and their keeper was magnificent. But I'm delighted with our players. "The fans were brilliant. I think if we can keep the togetherness, then we can have a good season. It is a really big win for us, but it means nothing if we don't follow it up. "I missed the press conference on Monday because I needed to speak to 12 or so players to lift them. It is all worth it for nights like this. We have to keep working, improving, and hopefully peak at the end of this season."
"We put wor Alex in the midfield and it paid off, it allowed Shawny and the others to get owt wide." Channelling his inner Bruce there.
Alsopp had that wobble with mistakes getting punished a few weeks ago, but surely it's time to give the lad some slack? I know HT2 isn't gonna put down his Ingram scarf and some won't like the risk v reward element of his game, but the longer he's become integrated, the more solid he seems to becoming.
