Reform look to have their best run at a by-election. Ben Habib tipped to storm to third behind Labour and the Cons.

Labour says it has “withdrawn support” for Rochdale by-election candidate Azhar Ali after his comments on Israel.

The BBC understands Mr Ali has been suspended from Labour pending an investigation.

The party said the decision was taken after "new information about further comments" by Mr Ali came to light. Earlier on Monday, Labour had defended standing by him as a candidate.

It is too late for the party to replace Mr Ali as its candidate.

The decision means that Mr Ali will remain on the ballot as the Labour candidate for Rochdale, but if he is elected he will sit as a independent MP or join another party.

It is also highly unlikely that Mr Ali would be selected by Labour to fight the forthcoming general election.

You can’t criticise Israel within the Labour Party.

Interesting to see Sunak have his own party political broadcast on GB news last night.
The one fallout point was the mental Scottish bloke, check out his grifting past.

aber would see him as a hero of the people.

And another one…. It seems anti-semitism in the Labour Party has just been hibernating. Hopefully Starmer continues to clamp down on it.

Labour has suspended a second parliamentary candidate after allegations that he made comments about Israel.

Former Hyndburn MP Graham Jones is also facing an investigation, the BBC understands.

It comes after Labour withdrew support for the party's candidate for the Rochdale by-election, Azhar Ali, for apparently making antisemitic remarks.

Mr Jones has been contacted for comment.

Labour had selected Mr Jones to contest his former Lancashire seat in the upcoming general election.

But, on Tuesday audio emerged allegedly of the former MP arguing that Britishpeople who fight in the Israel Defence forces "should be locked up" and using an expletive to refer to the country.

It's amazing how quick this has all blown up - there was right argument brewing yesterday on sky between John McDonnell (who remained composed) and Lord Austin (who was chucking claims about). I don't even pretend to understand what it was all about, but you could see there was some argy-bargy brewing.

    https://news.sky.com/video/politics...john-mcdonnell-clash-on-politics-hub-13070353

Think this is one political argument I'll distance myself from. The world is changing, this country is changing and I'm too old for it all. Would I dismiss a Labour vote because of it, no.

I’ll still be voting for Starmer. He’s met the antisemitism in the Labour Party head on. It will always be there in some way because it’s the left wing that hold them views about Jewish people. It won’t ever be fully eradicated but as long as he deals with it when it rears its head, that’s all people can ask, and to be fair, he’s meeting that challenge.

I’m more posting it because for all the angry outbursts about Israel and Palestine on here, the Labour Party under Starmer are supportive of the Israeli right wing government. None of the pro Palestine supporters on here have come out and said they’ll now turn away from Labour which tells me it’s all faux outrage. If they cared about Palestine that much they wouldn’t vote Labour. That’s my point.

I hear what you are saying Saf, I've made a similar point myself before, that being that we will all still vote the same two parties in and the Americans will still vote for good ole lovely Joe Biden. Nothing ever challenges the system.

No major political figures in the west support Palestine, they all support Israel. On a human level, they may privately think it's wrong, but geopolitically, Israel are on team West the whole way.

Tbh, despite lip service, majority of the Russian oligarchs who control Russia are Jewish. Abramovic is just one example.

    So even Russia supports Israel.

Labour will be absolutely no different at all.

and why is that, because the system is rigged not to be any different. Corbyn was a prime example of that. The western media being the catalyst of success or failure. Yet we are supposed to be a democracy, different to Russia. In truth though we are not, the system is embedded to ensure the outcome before the vote is even cast, we don't lock you up like Russia, we just manage/govern the voting options and ensure our politicians toe a certain line. in short all you are really doing is just voting for your favourite colour, red or blue, like supporting your local football team. That's not me saying I disagree with the rigging, I'm just saying it is what happens - so until people wake up and see that, then nothing will ever change, you might as well just throw your voting paper in the bin, and if enough people did that, then who knows. But that will not ever happen either, because people are scared of change and the powers that be have already decided how you should think. .

Voters are ****ing lazy and don't care

Go out and protest if ye want something done.

10k folk in London on a march is **** all, get people genuinely interested.

I think people cannot stomach a simple fact. The mass majority of people are actually sound, they don't care, they're satisfied. But the very bored minority want some revolution they can't be arsed getting involved in.

You can spout off on here in extreme safety, as can I. In Russia, they'd cut off your meds and let you drop.

I don't want anything done though, it's not me crying over Palestine, it's not me crying over Ukraine. Yes voters are lazy, I thought brexit would have taught you that. I'm happy to keep voting Tory, :bandit:

But you're not voting Tory <laugh>

Majority of people are happy, they want a politician who gets on and leaves them alone. Hence Starmers popularity and Corbyns unpopularity.

This ****e about media representation too.

His speeches were out there, anyone could have found them. No one told the tone death goon to stand there Infront of a Stalin poster. Or his ****ing dimwit Chancellor to pull out a red book.

Or their fat *****loid home secretary to **** up basic sentences.

Woe is me he was stitched up.

Not saying you think this, but the commentary on Corbyn is such bollocks. The guys a ****ing clown.

If that is evidence the UKs system is rigged, thank god <laugh>
