Have returns gone out of fashion? Hardly seen anyone do anything but call a mark in any game I have seen this season.
First time since 2014 that I haven't had work the next day, so that's nice Chiefs offense hasn't shown up much, but I still expect them to score like 21 points in consecutive drives in the third quarter though
Looks like the Vikings are about to pay Jefferson - they're about to make him the highest paid WR in NFL history according to reports. And rightly so because he deserves to be.
Yeah highest paid non QB. A dumb decision imo but can see why they’ve done it, Jefferson is the franchise at this point so if they want to sell tickets they need him there
Basically means they need to get a rookie QB. I did see some quotes from Jefferson saying how much he wants Cousins back, hopefully just standard media chat rather than anything more. Paying Jefferson huge and keeping Kirk for 2 years would be hilarious and peak Vikings
I'm not really sure they had any alternative. Firstly, it would be hugely unpopular. Fanbase would explode. Also Jefferson is no standard WR. That catch he made in Buffalo on a 4th and 18 play last year was outrageous. I would be gutted if he was traded. I think at this point I would like to mock the Eagles for taking Reagor before Jefferson in the 2020 draft. Also I'm not convinced he could be traded. Teams who have high 1st round draft picks are unlikely to give up the amount of picks it would take to land Jefferson. And while someone like the Chiefs would love him, they can get ****ed with their 32nd pick as a starting point.
I don’t think the fanbase would be as bothered as you make out. Don’t think any team in history has won a Super Bowl because they have a superstar wide receiver and not much else. Would’ve been interesting to know what sort of offers they could have got for Jefferson but I doubt they even looked into it too much. If they could’ve swapped 11 and Jefferson for the Bears number 1 to get whichever QB they liked the most that probably would give them a better shot long term of being successful than paying Jefferson, but whatever the trade was never going to happen. Sounds like Hunter is definitely gone so that means they have basically nobody on the roster in the pass rush department. Wonnum, Hunter and Davenport all gone. Free agency should provide some insight into what direction they want to take. In his 2 previous years Kwesi likes to not target the top tier free agents and spread the money about so that there aren’t any massive holes on the roster numbers wise so he doesn’t have to potentially reach in the draft as we don’t have anyone in that position. At the moment my feeling is that they are going to trade up to get a QB, which is a big risk but probably one they need to take at some point
Free agency effectively opens today, always interesting to see where players end up. Fully expect the Vikings to bottle it and give Cousins a big extension because the Falcons are allegedly interested and willing to pay big to get him
