I did LA and SF about 30 years ago too - SF miles more enjoyable that LA. Did Alcatraz too, and have a photo of me in both Al Capones cell and the one the Clint Eastwood was in. Had some great nightlife in SF too, managed to catch some local bands in bars. Ended up down in San Diego on that holiday, and went to a rave at the indoor football stadium, insane! I did New Orleans and Houston a couple of years earlier - really did have a great time there, but that's also gone right downhill, especially after Katrina devastated the place.
Did those three as the final stops on a cruise 5 years ago. San Diego it pissed down all day when we visited the zoo, LA was awful, visited the walk of fame and within a few hundred yards were a lot of people sleeping rough and begging, the last thing you'd expect to see. SF was a three night stop and was really good, lots to see and do and Alcatraz was an eerie highlight, the solitary cell was horrendous. Would hope to return to see Yosemite and on to Yellowstone at some time in the future. Always fancied doing the southern 'music' States but Covid and now the financial squeeze is f*cking everything up...
To emphasise all your points about what a ****hole LA is…..doesn’t seem to have been reported much here but it kicked off big time after the game with riots in downtown LA, stores looted, cars damaged and at least one person shot. Definitely on my list of “go back to” destinations
I didn’t see any of that at all. And I heard the Raiders had to give away tickets to get a full stadium during the play offs.
Yes mate just came across a report and a few videos. It seems the done thing in the US and Canada for it to kick off after any Football/Baseball/Basketball game. Doesn’t seem to get reported much
So who's staying up for the Taylor Swift Show?... I bet a lot of the players will be seriously pissed off with the sideshow...
Years ago I watched it for a while but couldn't ever get into it. I did like the 49'ers though with Jerry Rice so I hope they win it not least to shut up all the Taylor Swift brigade. Won't be watching it though
I just turned it on and then turned it straight back off again because they were doing the vomit-inducing national anthem ****. Most of these people are numbskull ****s who will soon be ruled by a fascist dictator. Anyway, 49ers for me.
Sensational play for a 9ers touchdown. Taylor Swift's lesser half losing it with his coach on the sideline. Never mind, Travis love. 10-3 San Francisco at HT. Time for bed - no sane person can possibly withstand the half-time pukefest.
Never watched NFL before but I'm overseas where there are many Americans so I thought I'd watch a bit. Seems exciting enough, more so if you know the rules (which I don't). However, my take home message is that those who advocate using the same clock stop / start system in footie need to check themselves into a clinic somewhere! If VAR has spoilt footie for many, that sort of system would absolutely kill it! My other thought was that a congratulatory kiss from Ms Swift might be quite a motivator.
