Just got back. Incredible game, what a comeback. Sat in Northam for first time in about 9 years! Such a good atmosphere.
3rd in my mind, Martina v Arsenal and Boufal v West Brom just just top it. I know it wasn’t anywhere near Rothwell’s but I loved how cool Mara and Edozie were for the fifth.
Just back. Exhausted. Lol reading this thread through from the last time I was on it (11:30am) is absolute comedy gold. £5 bet on Huddersfield to win at 11-1. Bet365 kindly cashed it out for me at half time for the full £55 + £5 stake. £10 reinvested on the Saints win at HT at 4-1. Bet365 account now showing £100 when it only had a fiver in this morning. Mad game. I love football. I never win bets, but won 2 in 90 minutes today I love football.
Right, I think my adrenaline levels have lowered enough now to put some coherent thoughts together. Or as much as they're going to anyway! What a ridiculously brilliant game of football. Swinging one way the other and just completely mental really. Our sport at its absolute best. Worth the season ticket money on its own. Huge credit to Huddersfield as they played a big part and were excellent I thought, we just had too much for them ultimately. I was particularly impressed with how their heads didn't drop after 2-2 and even 3-3. Would have been easy to just capitulate fully. No chance they go down based on that imo. On the subject of capitulation and how nice is it to have a team with such character now after being so weak mentally since Ralph was here. Makes it so easy to love the players and manager. I said at HT we needed an early goal and we got it and what a goal it was! Had a perfect view of it from my seat in block 15 and you knew it was in as soon as he hit it. Genuinely struggling to think of a better Saints goal I've seen live. Delighted for Mara. He's been steadily improving all season and since about December has been visibly having an impact on games when coming on. Goal aside his determination and composure to assist Edozie was absurdly good. Nice to see a young lad who struggled to settle in a foreign country getting the rewards after sticking at it. He gets a lot of stick on here but I thought Manning was brilliant in that second half and was involved with so much of our good moves down the left. The own goal for 3-3 was all down to him imo. I thought the atmosphere was actually quite poor for large parts of the match but I'm struggling to remember a home game where so many people have lost their **** so much celebrating goals. The goals for 2-2 and 4-3 had almost everyone going absolutely ****ing potty, and this was in the chapel! It was marvellous. The officials were shockingly ****e. Probably the worst this season. Couldn't give a **** though quite frankly. Think that's it. Buzzing to get up to Bristol and WBA next week. Both tough games but you have to fancy us in current form. UTFS
Yeah 4 and 5-0 wins are great but nothing beats a match when both sides are going toe to toe and genuinely you feel that goals could occur at any time. I really hope that 'Udders can stay up playing the same way, I would give the bloke the job now if I was them. Fair comments about Manning too, he is improving and has largely cut out the costly mistakes.
Haha I can't even explain how much I love this post. Dunno why I bothered typing out a really long one. This sums it up perfectly!
I don’t get to see many games this season, only a handful available in NZ but what a game to watch! I genuinely thought this would be the game where it all came crashing down as Hudds had us on the ropes thru the first half but nothing quite beats a comeback victory. That second half and our subs were simply sensational. Credit to RM if he hadn’t made those changes at half time it could have been very different. what a season!
Yeah. 8 goals though and they have to cover the whole football league in 1.5 hours so I kind of get it.
He spoke well after the game and also was generous with praise for Huddersfield which was refreshing.
