Sheffield Wednesday on the tv tonight. Their pitch looks just as worn as City’s, perhaps worse.

Apples and oranges. The stadium is a business lease arrangement, not a home to be lived in. All businesses that lease their premises are usually prepared to make changes or improvements to the buildings they occupy.

Though still not great, the pitch is much better than last week.

Yeah was just following on from GFAW's joke (I assume he was joking about the picture used, anyway).

Why have we kept the rugby lines painted on the pitch when rugby hasn’t been on it since September?

So it seems it would be only the academy moving there? I thought the whole point was academy and first team all together?

Council meets with clubs to progress MKM Stadium redevelopment
    THURSDAY, 22 FEBRUARY 2024
    CATEGORIES: NEWS, PLANNING, REGENERATION
TAGS: CLLR MIKE ROSS, HULL CITY, HULL FC, MKM STADIUM, TAN KESLER

Hull City Council leader, Cllr Mike Ross, this week met with SuperStadium Management Company (SMC), Hull City executive vice-chair Tan Kesler and Hull FC chairman Adam Pearson to progress discussions on the redevelopment of the MKM Stadium.

Cllr Ross, along with council officers, met with Mr Kesler and Mr Pearson to hear more about the plans for the stadium.

Cllr Ross said: “It was good to meet with SMC and see the progress it has made on the proposals and discuss any support needed from the council.

“There would be wider benefits for the community and the professional clubs and it was great to be able to hear about those.”

Provisional proposals, which would see Hull City’s Academy relocated to the MKM Stadium, improved facilities for the Tigers Trust, along with a raft of improved community facilities in West Park, have been shared with the council’s planning committee as part of the pre-application process.

Hull City, Tigers Trust, SMC and Hull FC will now engage with the local community and other stakeholders in advance of submitting a detailed planning application later this year.

Mr Kesler said: “I’d like to thank Cllr Ross and his colleagues for their interest and support for our vision for the future of the MKM Stadium and surrounding area.

“Additionally, I’d like to thank Adam and also our colleagues at the Tigers Trust for their efforts and enthusiasm for a project that will bring benefits to so many people.

“We look forward to sharing our plans with the people of Hull in due course.”

It's still pretty unclear isn't it.

What actually is the aim of this development from City's point of view? Just a new home for the academy? You'd think there's more to it than that.

And for all the positive talk of a meeting and a planning application going in soon, it still isn't clear what land would be used and whether they have agreement to use it.

Surely the first team training area is a higher priority than the Academy..

Not financially its not. Bishop Burton doesnt come cheap and it will never belong to the club. Plus everyone goes into a hizzy fit about Millhouse Woods Lane as though it is unusable. It is far from it. The facility is decent. It could be better and probably bigger, meaning more pitches, but it is far from inadequate or unusable.
