We wouldn't be Hull City if we didn't have a few "sad old depressed prats". I'd feel lost without them!
Fair enough. From my seat I thought it was the best choice to go back. Ironically, the ball to Allsopp saw him whack it over the top to a runner which opened up an attack.
Sad fecker as I am I listened to their boss at the prematch presser. Their list of injured seemed to go on and on, though it may have been a ruse to lull City into a trap!!
We had a throw in level with their box, as I recall. It was thrown back to someone who then passed it to Coyle. He got closed down and passed it to Allsop. I think the groan was to do with the whole passage of play from the throw in as opposed to specifically Coyle to Allsop.
According to their forum they've him and another winger who hasn't played for a while through injury, but they're due back today and they think it could completely change their season. Sounds familiar actually!
This is where people need to get real though. There has never been a version of football where you can just directly go forward straight to goal at all times. A throw in high up the pitch has always been difficult to find space from. People expecting it to never go backwards when it's a throw in near the penalty area just aren't realistic. The fact that we so often get into good positions from Allsop's long passes, including on that occasion, makes it even more daft.
I think we should and will be unchanged, but I also think this is over the top. As an attacking player, Tufan is the weakest of that front four. He loses the ball a lot because he simply isn't as skillful in tight spaces as the others are, he did this a lot last week, and when we complain that we're not creating enough, attacks breaking down prematurely isn't helping with that and he is bad for it, as much as people ignore or don't see it. Even for the goal where we won the ball back from them, they only had it because Tufan had just lost it in a tight space. He's an excellent finisher, his pressing from the front has got very good over time and he's the right choice to start again today, but if we had a fit and in form striker who was also good out of possession like Tufan is, then Ozan would be the one to drop.
With a tough run of games about to start next week It would be a great time to absolutely trounce Swansea..really give upcoming managers something to worry then. 4-0 city
I'm not even Tufan's biggest fan but dropping him after his performance last week would be a bit strange , especially given the alternatives
Maybe because he’s a midfielder and not a striker? He’s better than Slater both on and off the ball, as you say we will almost certainly be unchanged but if we were bringing a striker in (which we should IMO) it should be Slater that makes way.
I’d be happy to see Tufan drop back with Slater making way, I quite like him in the middle, though I’d play Traore ahead of Slater as well.
I didn't address that part of your previous post but I disagree with that too. Slater is consistently played down in that way that hard-working midfielders often are but he's very reliable, he's tidy on the ball if not creative and he's a goal threat. There's a reason he's basically never dropped. Tufan has almost never played centre mid for us and there are reasons for that too. He's good out of possession as an attacker pressing people from the front, but as one of the holding midfielders he'd have a different responsibility and I don't think you could trust him to win the battle in there.
They’re big birds, we’re big cats We’ll hunt them down, play with them & finally kill them for fun, as cats do. City 3-0 Dead Bods
