In the same interview where he was rebutting his memory issues, he referred to Egyptian leader Abdul Fattah al-sisi as the president of Mexico

    Not great timing

At the end of the day, he is an old man. He's 81 and most people are long retired by then. It's not uncommon for 81 year olds to have some memory problems

He probs should just hang up his boots and let another Democratic candidate take on Trump.

I think he's a bit of a warmonger tbph, he does nothing to bring sides together. How much blood needs to be spilt in Ukraine a war that Zelenskyy is going to lose btw or drag Europe into it, unless someone internal takes Putin down, but I can't see that happening at the mo. So it's same old, same old, now they want to put the women into the meat grinder, fooking great and Latvia are activating call up of their citizens if I heard it right. This is without getting started on Gaza. America and Biden are just brewing up future trouble for Europe, well they've probably already done that. In the search for peace we at least need the top man to remember his history, someone remind him he's President ffs.

So just let Putin steal half a country? And then hope he doesn't decide the Baltic states aren't a country and take them as well? There's a reason the Latvians are calling up, it's because they've been here before and know exactly what Russia is like. Maybe you should read some history, it wasn't just Germany that invaded Poland in a land-grab, and part of the reason we got dragged int WW1 because of their imperial ambition.

He's an establishment man, who is likely making decisions heavily influenced by what his chief of defence is telling him. There's nothing radical about Biden and he'll play out the establishment play book. He is literally a puppet in office.

As for Latvia, I think they along with places like Estonia, Lithuania (who both border Belarus) and even Finland, will be thinking that unless Ukraine push Russia back and win that war, then they could be next.

Although that said, I think the Russian war machine has been severely dented with their war with Ukraine, which is why the west are 'happy' to see it being prolonged. As it degrades Russia as a military threat, the longer it goes on.

I don't see any way Biden can take the blame for Putin deciding he wants to annex neighbouring states into his empire. You might blame policies from previous administrations for making Putin feel uneasy... and sure, Trump would have let Putin just have Russia, so we wouldn't be tied up sending equipment to Ukraine to help fund a war.

But if we let Putin just have Ukraine, he's long harboured ambitions for Moldova whish is just next door (he's interfered there before). Moldova and Romania see themselves as one people. Romania is a NATO ally. If Putin entered Moldova, it would be all so tempting for a Romanian general to fire back at Russia and NATO would be in a hot war. If the west learned anything from WWII it should be that, you don't just let a power hungry dictator start picking off states in Europe... they don't stop with one or two. Ukraine is probably more equivalent to WWII Austria as they have long ties with Russia... but Moldova would probably end up being our Poland.

I think the strategy Biden and the other NATO countries made, giving Ukraine what it needs to defend itself without actively getting involved in a hot war, is the correct decision.

In the case of Moldova, the main reason the countries haven't reunified is because of pressure from Putin and the fact that one half of Romania-Moldova is NATO/EU and the other half isn't... and Putin is currently occupying a sliver of Moldova that he invaded in a previous invasion.

That's a real tinder box... I dont want Putin getting anything near to having a land bridge to Moldova again.

I didn't say we should let him steal anything, but negotiations have to be better than continued bloodshed. The slaughter of more and more humans, it was obvious from the off it was a war Ukraine were never going to win. I'm sure the Ukranians wouldn't reject you signing up for them if you feel so strongly about it, go put your life on the line, instead of the continued atrocities we've seen so far, options are always easy behind a keyboard, when it's not your life, your family, your friends lives on the line. As for maybe I should go read some history, maybe you should stop reading it and give your head a wobble.

Might as well press it and find out as most those behind a keyboard think it's ok us to keep encouraging Ukranians to put their lives on the line, while we sit comfortably indoors egging them on.

Biden is behind every war and he could stop it but chooses not to. He's supposed to be one of the top three most powerful men in the world, yet from where I'm sitting he'd look better placed in a cabbage field - war is easy when it's not on your doorstep, ie living in America.

At least with Gaza it was a conflict they could win, fighting innocent women and children. Biden has lots and lots of blood on his hands, you can't just point at Netanyahu for this one. If Biden had wanted it stopped, he could have done.
