Ah go on then... One of my favourite League 1 games, we were playing tremendous football in that run in.
I think we should stick with the same front 3, especially as Che is starting to hit some lovely, round the corner passes for players to get behind defenders. I don’t think Adarma has that in his locker, but if any of them have an off day it’s great to know that we have Edozie, Brooks and Mara chomping at the bit to get on.
For me, Brooks is too good to stick on the bench. He came here to play at the end of the day, not swap one bench for another in a lower league.
I don't think that the league starting XI deserves to be changed, "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Che has been great this last month and fits the style so well with his link up play.
He also knew that he'd have to play himself into the team though. He shouldn't just walk in without showing what he can do off the bench first imo. Gives the wrong impression to the rest of the team, some of who are performing well when given the chance, but haven't been able to make it into the starting line up. Though I expect we will see some rotation with all the midweek games coming up this month anyway. Just think it's perfect for him to come off the bench on Saturday and show why he should be starting. Then he gets a go from the start on Tuesday against Bristol.
Che wasn't particularly impressive against Watford on Tuesday it should be said. He also played most of the match in tough conditions. To keep it fresh I would go Brooks, Adarma and Fraser. But whatever call Russell makes I will be happy with.
Agree on that. In Russ we trust! I wasn't at the game and only going by stats but two assists and a goal isn't bad for someone who wasn't particularly impressive!
Agree, RM has plenty of rotation to choose from and whoever is on the bench now is keeping the standard up high, such a change from previous years. This season is turning out to be 'one of those' we'll remember for the best reasons!
Dibling did all the hard work for the second goal TBF! He missed a sitter in the first half. Second half he was better TBF but first half he was ****e.
Great goals and good to see Papa Waigo again I note that when the keeper touched him he stayed on his feet, turned & scored ... Proper!
If Rothwell starts, then I see no point in playing Manning as Rothwell's dead ball skills look better than Manning's and Meghoma's defending looks sounder than Manning's. Given that Stu starts rather than Rothwell, the chances of a double substitution would seem ideal when Stu tires. Up until seeing Meghoma 'up close' I had hankered for Perraud should we return to the Prem League. Now I see another way forward.
I imagine that Russell will rotate the XI a bit over the course of these next three games, with them being in the space of seven days. So Brooks will get his chance to start at some point.
Waigooo! Loved that week of matches and it was lovely to enjoy football again after some punishing seasons. Much like the current team, maybe it feels a little more special seeing them playing the way they are now, after being so dreadful for the most part over the last couple of seasons. I’m sure Arma must have started up top in this unbeaten sequence, but it does seem like we’ve looked better with Che playing as the central man and I only recall Alcaraz doing a decent job at it.
In between chatting about which Rotherham player scored a goal in some game 50 years ago the Rotherham commentators specifically said Che was very poor against them
