They picked the wrong person to be King.
If they were genuine about ‘growing the brand’ and ‘reading the room’….. Prince William & Kate, would surely be the people’s choice.

Charlie is about as useless as an ashtray on a motorbike.

She definitely wears the trousers there. He has all the gravitas of a mid-ranking management consultant sent to a northern factory to lecture them about efficiency. The fawning over them this week has been even more ridiculous than usual.

So will one in four of us, but we just have to get on with our lives without it being the headline news for the last few days

Charles has done well since becoming king. The soft power of the royal family, smoothing ruffled feathers in Germany and France after Brexit, has been positive. His preparedness to publicise details of private health issues has also been positive. A greatly increased number of men are focusing on prostate health as a result, and that will save lives. In my view, those are examples of a thoughtful and effective head of state.

To be honest, the royal family mean **** all to me. I generally skirt past any news on them but I wish Charles well as with all cancer sufferers.

No ill will to him, but his cancer was spotted last week and his treatment started this week. Most British people would not have a proper diagnosis, let alone treatment in this timescale. The target of 75% of urgent referrals having a diagnosis with 28 days has never been met. Once you have a diagnosis the wait for treatment is meant to be a maximum of 31 days, but 35% of patients wait longer.

We aren’t told whether the King is being treated on the NHS but if he is some other poor ****er was kicked out of the way to allow this to happen. If it’s a rare cancer it’s very likely to be NHS treatment, I’m guessing at the Royal Marsden.

One rule for the rich etc. I think we should be told whether he is getting NHS treatment.

Cancer waiting times for 2023 in England were the worst on record, a BBC News analysis has revealed.

Only 64.1% of patients started treatment within 62 days of cancer being suspected, meaning nearly 100,000 waited longer than they should for life-saving care.

The waits have worsened every year for the past 11.

Macmillan Cancer Support chief executive Gemma Peters called the figures "shocking".

"This marks a new low and highlights the desperate situation for people living with cancer," she said.

"Behind the figures are real lives being turned upside down, with thousands of people waiting far too long to find out if they have cancer and to begin their treatment, causing additional anxiety at what is already a very difficult time.

"With over three million people in the UK living with cancer and an ageing population, this is only set to rise."

The records go back to 2010, shortly after the cancer target was introduced.

However, improvements have been made over the course of 2023 in how quickly patients are diagnosed with 72% told whether they have cancer or not within 28 days of an urgent referral
