If the cap fits, the only people I see, hear advocating for Nige, are of a certain age. A lot of the young/middle age ran out of steam with him, and his name and experience last season. Also a bit rich from the guy who played the Nepotism card, repeatedly.
I’m not sure we are polarised on age Supcon. with LJ there was always a polarisation - an agenda. Some people on here simply hated him and wanted him to fail from day 1 - and some even danced and sang when he was sacked, with us languishing in 8th place. I don’t feel like the same is true for Nige - most of us liked him - some creamed their pants over him, but most of us thought he was doing ok - not brilliant but ok. I for one didn’t want him sacked and I was surprised and alarmed when it happened. I thought Manning was a huge gamble (same as I did LJ at the time of his appointment). Gamble is the key word with me. I think Raver summed it up well when he said we were going nowhere under Pearson - neither down nor up. Manning has breathed a freshness into the side - mixed it up a bit - and got us playing some good stuff - but therein lies a risk. Results in the league haven’t been great since the Watford game, but I don’t think we’re far off being a good side. Too late for this season though - barring a miracle.
Fair Appraisal. I never had anything against NP, as those did against LJ. As you say, we were going nowhere with Nige; however, I do think he deserved until the end of the season though. That said, we move on, as we always do when a manager departs, well, some of us do....
Last 10 league games - NP - WDWLLWLWLL - 13pts - Sacked.. Last 10 leaguegames - LM - DLWWDLLDDL - 10pts - ? Absolutely no progress, better style game though.
The first 10 league games of a manager's reign are not the best indicator (nor are the last 10, I guess); even Dean Holden won his first 4 games in charge......

You wait if and it’s a big if we win the next two games he will be rubbing his thighs telling everyone we are going somewhere and all the doubters are being proven wrong. Only on Thursday he was proclaiming this ex Man City could be Tammy mark 2. If he don’t score on his debut he will be writing him off as a Diony

easy to make comparisons ...I do! ... based on games played etc etc but the one factor you cant cant add in "is the injury/ squad available and most importantly the opposition especiallT H or A
Makes glaring mistakes, shot stopping and with his passing at that level...had Max made similar would be slaughtered on here by some... at the level we're at....he's decent imo
I’m not suggesting for one minute Max is anywhere good enough to play at that level, he isn’t, At our level he’s fine. There are areas of our team that need addressing far more urgently, the money needed to replace him with an upgrade would be much better spent elsewhere.
A couple of million, really, on who? A kid from Ireland, a free from Derby and a loanee. If that's a couple of million, then I (and I think most) have seriously underestimated what Nige did have to spend in the summer. The last 2 live TV games have mentioned £2m a piece for Knight and McCrorie......
Bird from Derby we paid a fee, speculation on OTIB to be around £1m. If we had waited until the summer and he was out of contract we would have to pay compensation and faced competition for his signature. We also paid fees / compensation for Murphy and Stokes. So £2m maybe a bit high but defo north of £1m

Bristol City are not attempting to play like Man City, they would not be able to because Max O'leary's technical ability would inhibit similar tactics wouldn't they? Man City would not have a keeper in goal like Max O'leary. Joe Hart was moved out of the club because of his passing technical deficiency. Could you explain how Max O'leary's below average passing ability, as identified in the link you provided would be normal (accepted standard) for a team playing possession based football? How much of the game will Max O'leary be playing with is feet? If the majority of O'learys game is played with his feet do you think a below average passing ability is decent?
You need to have outfield players to enable a keeper to play that way in the first place........we can not be Man City, the budget is ridiculously different and so the quality, be it keeper or outfield players can not be compared...although on occasions we do pass the ball and try to press, not enough IMO....we normally start well and then fade........badly! Max's passing goes long as no outfield players allows space for any keeper to play into...... His ability is decent at the level we play....he makes the odd mistake as all keepers do, but has also saved us on many occasions......
Absolutely… spot on. It’s like comparing chalk and cheese. Much of Max’s issues with his feet is he doesn’t have outfield players offering options, so has to play long balls to the flanks, these are low percentage balls that even the most gifted outfield players at our level would find difficult to pull off, let alone a keeper.
Bristol City ARE not attempting to be Man City. Max O'leary's passing ability short and long is not to a high standard, his standard is amongst the lowest in the division. Watch the Leeds keeper, consistently hitting wide receivers with a passes that are shorter than forty metres (long), in wide positions around thirty five metres from goal in positions O'leary frequently over hits. See the Leeds keeper confidently leaving his box to join in build up play to allow Leeds players to push up and create overloads. O'leary? Can't do it. And these are shapes Bristol City not Man City are adopting in build up play. How does Bristol City possession system work without a keeper that does not have good passing ability? You stated that O'leary is statistically amongst the best in the division. These questions were not answered.
