5th and 3rd, but yeah the point stands. Tottenham's new stadium shares some land with their last one, that's the closest I can think of.
The remains are under the trees where it says "Stands" on the superimposed map posted above (which i created, incidentally).
Not quite There have been conversations, but as Mike Ross said he’s waiting to see what’s being suggested. I did think the timing was odd though so perhaps there’s something I’m not aware of.
The fact that the club pays no rent to the council makes it rent free. We still have to pay the rates, we still have to pay the electricity bill, the water bill, the gas bill, but none of that changes the fact that it's rent free.
But they pay it to the SMC, as presumably FC do. What happens to it then? It won’t go in City’s coffers. You cannot help but feel that these things would have been set up better elsewhere.
It's spent on all the things the SMC do, maintaining the stadium, putting on games etc, the SMC has run at a fairly major loss for a long time now. When the council originally drew up the lease, they were far more concerned with making sure it couldn't cost them anything, than they were about actually making anything from it.
That depends on what you define as the first club. 1904 was the first official one, but Hull were linked to the rugby club that became Rovers, and played on Endsleigh Fields at the back of Haworth pub. Admittedly it doesn't look as if it had a stadium as such. Here's an advert for their game against Doncaster Rovers from 1891.
It's interesting to super impose different years above and below to watch the changes. There are several versions of that doing the rounds, and several were posted on here and other sites. I posted a few I'd cobbled together when it was first discussed in the days prior to the trust.
Bet they were brave and there were positives to be taken from the game. And a large, raucous crowd there as well.
I bet you were pissed off that there was no OAP discount on offer. I actually used to have a very brief report from the game, but I can't find it now and I can't recall the result. I do recall it mentioning that it drew such a crowd, people were standing on the walls along Beverley Rd.
I often reminisce with my mam and dad, and my Uncle Jack about the game. They were there as well. Staunch Airlie Birds they are. All of them where at the famous Huyton game when 760 turned up.
I wouldn't be so sure about that. That area alone had a host of cricket clubs and pitches, as well as a fair number of the teams that eventually combined to become FC, KR and City.
Yup, the massive number of people that attended has certainly devalued the match day programmes for it available on ebay.
I was rummaging to see if I could find some of the other map images of the Circle and KCom from when it was discussed years ago, but many of them maybe predate this site, and the other I posted was exactly the same as the one posted on this thread. I did find a post from me that is obviously the blueprint that Acun's following. https://www.not606.com/threads/assem-allam-for-a-day.264486/#post-6560443
More to do then than now? So much else to do in Hull is often given as a reason we don’t get bigger crowds than similar sized places where there is nothing to do in comparison.
