How much space do you actually need for a training ground that's big enough for both the first team and the academy? Could you put it somewhere like the old Syd Smith site on First Lane or has that been build on now?
He has conducted his business on twitter though. That was my first thought when I saw the tweet to be honest; that it seemed like a cynical attempt to quickly and easily win some public favour. I'm not someone who is all over the council on this. I think it's more complicated than people often acknowledge and I think the plans are flawed anyway. But I do think it's generous to Mike Ross to make out that he's being noble and doing his business in the right forum when he sort of isn't.
That'll be club paying SMC, which is essentially itself. The rent that never gets paid will be from the SMC to the council.
I said a long time ago a lot of problems with pitches are caused by drainage. Though I think the pitch itself is a problem. Picture of the bowling green at BP. Had a look at a few belonging to other clubs of a similar size. Burnley and Norwich spent PL money further developing theirs, both look bigger than what could be fitted on the site at the MKM. Burnley’s is over miles outside the town, Norwich’s is over 9 miles away. Middlesbrough’s is over 17 miles away and covers 160 acres. Wonder what the total acreage of the Walton Street site is including the fairground?
Walton Street car park is 16 acres. Burnley's training ground is considered very small, but even theirs is 18 acres, many of the larger clubs have training grounds of over 100 acres.
I suspect you are right re the covenant. Why can't someone just let the public have the facts? Regarding getting round the table to say the fair can't be moved. If that's the case, surely that should have happened long before now?!? It's all very odd
Should be fairly easy to ask on an FOI request whether there is a fair related covenant on the land. I know they refuse to share the income from the fair stating it’s commercially sensitive, but asking simply if there is a covenant that says that the fair must stay on the land should elicit a response
His answer was accurate though. There is someone working up plans to propose (there’s a project manager working on it) but he hasn’t been shown those plans yet.
please log in to view this image I've never really looked at it before as the Circle was so far before my time but was there a football ground and a cricket circle in basically the same foot print the MKM takes up now between the back of west park and the train track. Seems incredible.
There's a picture somewhere of the stadium superimposed on the old ground, to show exactly how they compare (I've had a look, but can't find it).
It’s on the Supporters Trust website home page https://hullcitysupporterstrust.com...-our-heritage-project-with-hull-city-legends/
Some guy was on look north or calendar the other week showing where the old terraces where...somewhere near the walkway i think....looked interesting
I have a sense that this has happened but the club didn't like the answer they got from the Council, hence the suggestion that they are being obstructive. Or the club never bothered to speak the Council, which would be worse - but surely implausible.
He replied to a tweet from Cooper/HDM calling out his Council. It would have set lots more hares running if he had ignored it.
