I often think there'll be posters who 'fall off the page' and we don't realise what's happened ... there's no one to tell us. Thankfully Allan was well known, on here, RTG and in real life, so most people will eventually know he's passed away.
My father in law knew him very well and was at the funeral. Even borrowed a Sunderland scalf from me to wear for the day.
That's a beautiful gift, I hope it gives his family a small piece of comfort that he was loved by so many. Well done everyone involved.
Really nice for the family to know that he was so liked even by people who’d never even met him . Great tribute
Absolutely. “Reg” was awesome. Had a few pints with him over the years. The story on how he ended up called rag man!! Brilliant.
I'm very happy to announce that I was able to present this to Allan's widow this afternoon . . . . She was 'over the moon' and astonished about how much his NOT606 family raised for prostate cancer research (as mentioned by Smug further up), and she is extremely grateful for this gift, which now sits on a shelf in her living room. She asked me to pass on her regards to all of Allan's family here, and she and Allan's kids will treasure it This was a team effort . . . . well done to all concerned, and especially to Smug, who was prominent in making this possible for a dear friend
Just had a phone reminder that it's Al's birthday today, he's quite a miss on here and in my life ... ... he'd have been loving it this season, I'll be raising a glass to him tonight
Never had the privilige of meeting him (nor anyone here for that matter) but currently raising a glass
