I said quite openly last season, as much as I enjoyed your end of season collapse, if given a straight choice between you and City to win the league, I'd pick you. I'd hate it as a Spurs fan, but as a fan of football I would see it as a victory of sorts, proof that glory is achievable without breaking 119 laws. Which, ironically, would give me great encouragement as a Spurs fan, because if you can do it, so can we.
Chelsea fans can't be watching todays game and thinking they were happy they sold Jorginho. He's a huge upgrade of Caceido etc.. Guy is still absolutely class.
He's been so much better than I thought he would be. Aside from the NLD where he made the mistake leading to Son's 2nd goal, he's been exceptional in every game/cameo that he's had. Incredible controller in the middle of the park. We still need to sign Zubimendi in Summer, but I would be happy for us to extend his deal for another year. He's earned it.
He's been really good for us. Solid and dependable Apparently he's a really good character in the dressing room too.
Shout to Havertz as well. I know he's not scoring a lot of goals, but his contribution to this team is really starting to show. He works hard, holds the ball up, brings players into play and makes some dangerous passes. He was a nightmare for Van Dijk and Konate yesterday, he kept them busy all day and forced Konate into committing two yellow card offences. He's reminding me of Giroud, albeit without the goals. If Havertz can find his confidence in front of goal, then he will become a really dangerous player.
It's gone under the radar, but I felt Kiwior's cameo was good as well. People were worried about him coming on for Zinchenko (especially as he's not a natural left-back), but aside from one dodgy pass, he locked the left hand-side well, showed composure in possession, won his duels and didn't let anything get past him. Just don't ask him to invert because he clearly can't play that way.
Funny on the Pool board, none of them can admit that we played a good game, it's all down to how **** there were instead
You played well and we played the worst I've seen us this season. Thats just truth. Taylor made sure it was difficult for us as usual. Gabriel should've been off for two yellows, Havertz done a forwards run into vvd in the air no intentions to get the ball just ran head first into his hip trying to injure him Harry Kane style again.. no yellow, pushes the lines man no yellow for that either. Odegaard telling the ref to **** off no yellow. Darwin gets a yellow for Gabriel wrestling him to the ground and complaining about it. And Both konates yellows were soft as ****. We gave you two calamitous goals and you scored the other one when we had 10 men. I thought you played better in the cup tbh Verdict. Bent af
And none of it disputable either.. Like I said mate enjoy 3rd even though you won the title twice already this season
Taylor was a ****, to both teams. The rest I skim read. You lost though, that's about all that counts
I don't buy into this at all. You played badly because we controlled the midfield. You guys were in in form team going into this let's not forget.
You don't have to but I see no real argument. We also played 5 more games than you in the same time frame. Missing a few key players too. You deserved your win, but you had massive help, like I said you definitely performed better in the cup against us than last night imo. We were shocking from the off, tired, slow and not on it. And as stated above you got so many decisions it was only gonna be Anthony Taylor reffing.
There was also a lot of talk about Liverpool's injuries/absences going into this game, and very little mention of absentees for us like Jesus, Partey, Tomiyasu, Timber and Vieira (who people forget was a really good impact sub for us before he got injured). In previous years, if we miss 1-2 big players, we would crumble. At least now we know we can cope with injuries to key players.
