Also, a question about one of your players - Cody Gakpo. I think he's a good player, but I'm not entirely sure where he fits in your team or where his best position is. Do any of you have any thoughts on where he's best utilised? I haven't watched him enough to say this conclusively, and obviously it will depend on what your new manager will decide to do, but I have doubts over whether Gakpo will be at Liverpool beyond 2025.
You can put that one in the trophy cabinet and compare it to Spurs’ we got to a CL final and once lead the premiership for a few weeks titles
Can’t work out his best role. He’s not quick enough to play on either wing in our current set up. And his link up isn’t quite good enough to be firmino link in the centre / doesn’t have the pace/power or the finishing of Nunez or Jota when playing centrally. I think he’s one of the best 5th choice front players in the league but think he stands out a bit at times because he’s more a solid all rounder than any specialist skill set. A useful player off the bench atm but prob also doesn’t help he gets shifted from CM to CF to LW and can’t get into a set role / partnership.
Not really, that's just deflection. I'm Just pointing out that both Jorginho and Havertz made big contributions to beating you yesterday.
It was an odd starting 11 - maybe more suited to next week's game than this - but still, no matter what the line-up I expect them to play with more heart and determination than they showed. I said early in the thread I hope we don't start tentatively, but that's exactly what we did do. It does my head in, we always struggle when we play that way.
I’m still blaming you for putting Burnley thread up before arsenal game had even started. Pretty sure you did that earlier in season as we lost that one as well
I think there was a hope that he could fill the Firmino gap, but he pales in comparison. Big boots to fill, of course.
Also ran straight for and into vvd when he was in the air late on in the game. Gabriel should've seen two yellows, odegaard again telling the ref to **** off gets nothing while Darwin gets a yellow for complaining about being wrestled to the ground. Bullshit calls in both games against them this season have cost us valuable points. Not even gonna mention spurs Just posted this on the Prem board
No doubt we deserved to lose. No excuses from me, but I like I said earlier, don't get too excited over the win - it wasn't difficult.
It's not really though is it. And by beating you, we changed what could have been an eight point gap into a two point gap
