Like LDS mine was 79 around Staley Hall, haven’t a clue what my 2 best 9’s would be, might be low 70’s round our place. One thing for certain, none of us is getting younger
Par both nines at my par 73 local back in the day. Different days of course. Four over par was my best 18. The good old days probably 20 years ago
Archie is very young and needs his game time managed or we will cause him injury problems in the future like we did with Sam Byram.
I think it’s difficult as to which is the best combinations, because the teams playing with far more confidence and control than a month or so ago - is that down to the opposition we’re playing. Is it down to the change in bringing PB back, for me he makes a difference to how we play, that frees up others around him. Not a clinical finisher (as we all know), but for me worth his place. As for young Archie, I’d like his game time managed, but with all the data they now have about conditioning, I would hope they are now able to manage it more effectively than 10 yrs ago. I guess it’s nice to have both options available to DF.
Kalvin Phillips looking like a pub player for West Ham so cracking business getting £40M+ for him. Which just goes to show you should never worry about players leaving as long as market value (at the time) is achieved. Talking of which Tyler Adams is still out injured and looks like he will barely kick a ball this season.
Now worth about 2 pints of lager & a packet of crisps, although these days that's probably part of his daily diet as well
Happens to every defensive player we put in the side tbh, not giving away goals on their first few games is an outlier. See Emerson, Aguerd, Mavropanos, Kehrer for details.
Gnonto showed flashes of what he is capable of, I think it was his agent that caused the bother, still if he wants always and still puts a shift in, at least it will up the dosh on a sale if he is still that way inclined, it's a long season and cover for injuries are needed
What surprised me about Phillips isn't his lack of match sharpness but when he lost the ball he just threw his hands up and gave up. That's not what he learnt under Bielsa at Leeds. He needs to have a look back at his workrate and mentality of 4 years ago and lose some weight. He isn't a bad player, just needs to get back a bit of mental strength and to be honest professionalism.
If someone has already covered it I apologise in advance but I’ve just read confirmation that we’re switching back to yellow for our away kit next season
Whenever Phillips was out injured for us it always took him at least 10 games to find his form again. Question now is after nearly 2 seasons sitting on the bench not playing has he lost something more than just match sharpness ? Hopefully you just have the option to make the deal permanent in the summer and not an obligation.
As far as the fan-base is aware we don't have any kind of permanent deal in the loan agreement, it was 'too complicated' apparently. I think it's a gentleman's agreement and they want Paqueta.
