Someone asked me the other day who my five greatest Britons are. As quick as a flash I listed Nelson, Dickens, Longshanks, Constable, Curbishley. Who do you rate as the greatest Britons?
Won't be doing anything as active as kayaking, but the area is called Val-les-Bains, so I hope there's some good spots for swimming. Nearest village is Aubenon, proper arse end of nowhere apparently. Her mum only has about three neighbours, and one of them's a shepherd. Wifi is really good though, apparently; go figure, as they say.
I was a Thiepval in December. The other half comes from an army family so we've done the beaches and cemeteries in Normandy. Omaha Beach is brilliant , a great free museum courtesy of the U.S. Last year we walked the beach and cliffs from Omaha down to Gold at Arromanches. Did the Western Front on a push bike back in '82.
